Considering a PT but concerned about support (A little Long)

Very wise. I had the oportunity to test one before I bought it. I just couldn't have purchased site-un-seen. I also read a lot and asked lots of questions. I knew what I was getting so much so that I fired it up and drove it off the loading dock and used it to load up all the implements into a couple of pickup trucks. I can honestly say that I was not disappointed and the PT425 worked as advertised. No more, no less, just right /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I would love to test out all the equipment like all of you have done -
sounds like everyone had a blast. That way I'm sure I'd have less doubts.
However, Virginia is a little on the far side for me.

With all of your comments, I am leaning very much to be comfortable buying
sight unseen. PT sure owes a lot of you some sales commision / compensation.
I'm not sure they know how much effect on sales all of you TBN members have.

No, you can't reply to the notifications. They just give you the URL of the post, and a copy.

Hawaii - great for weather (no cold start up problems a lot of you experience) but bad for shipping costs (borderline ridiculous prices) Guess that's what they call the "cost of living in paradise"

I wonder if you call Power Trac and ask them if there are any units in Hawaii on your island, if they'd contact a user for a look-over. Might be worth a call....

Hi Phil,

I went thru the same decision making process about a year ago, had the same issues with New England pricing, seriously considered the powertrac, but finally bought a used kubota for a reasonable price. Anyway if you want to look at or try a powertrac there was a tool rental place on rt.20 in Sudbury MA (Taylor??) that had one for rent when I was looking.

There is a unit in Hawaii about 5 years old owned by the city or state.

I did contact them and actually they had some bad things to say about the PT. Lots of engine problems causing downtime they claim. Hard to validate their claim being government run - I see how they run things - definitely not what a private company or a homeowner would do to take care of a piece of equipment.

At this point, all I could get from their feedback is that the PT doesn't take too well to abuse (that's usually what the government dishes out).

OH - that is daring to admit you are in Hawaii right now - and we here in good old new england got up to the old goose egg on the thermometer this morning - I guess you sure won't have that cold starting problem - boy - what I would do to be someplace warm right now -

we have been stuck here - usually I can get a break somewhere warm for business or pleasure - but the wife is due for our third on the 26th so we stayed local -

I used to like the cold - but I really don't like it anymore and this winter has been endless in terms of cold

Well - good luck with your decision - and I think you really got an honest & fair review from the folks here - yes of course we are partial to PT's - because we love them and are willing to put up with any shorts because the list on the plus side is very long - you really won't find anything else out there quite like them -

Isn't it ironic. People from Hawaii love to visit cold places like yours to do things like skiiing and see snow for the first time, get away from the humidity, etc. We think you folks are so lucky to have snow . . . .

And you express just the opposite. That sure reinforces the saying "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" ha

Myself, I love it both ways! However, you guys sure got your work cut out for you with all the extra work created by the cold weather. My hats (or rather maybe swim shorts) off to you.
