I have a Yanmar 1500d and would like to convert my joystick to have a free float position.
It is a VTEKS HD V1A loader.
Is it possible?
Could I afford to do it?

Thanks for any suggestions. Even funny ones

Loader valves usually have float.

Thanks JJ
But being a novice to the tractor world is there a easy way to find out.
Like what to look for.
I can't find anything about the loader itself.
Is there a way to tell by looking a the valve?

Thanks

With the tractor running, pull the joy stick lever fully back to raise the loader, Then push the stick fully, fwd, and it should lock in fwd and if it has float, the lift arms should descend to the ground and the lever will stay in float until you pull it back to neutral.

Another way, is to tilt the bucket down and then push the lift arms lever fwd until the wheels are off the ground, and then push lever fully fwd and the tractor should descend to the ground. The lever should detent in float.

If the wheels stay in the air, you either do not have float or the float is not working.

If you need a loader valve, here is one that will work.

This valve has float and regen.

Regen is used to make the bucket dump faster.

Thanks again J J

I will try your suggestions as soon as the rain and wind stops.
Besides its nap time.

Tried your suggestions and it looks like a $200 plus fix.
Needs some deep thought.

Thanks again J J

I would just add, the trick to what JJ is saying is when you push the stick forward looking for float, you will have to push it harder than usual to over come some resistance of the detente ball or what ever it is.

Many have said it took several attempts to find float even though they knew their machine was equipped with it, just because at first it is somewhat of an unnatural movement/motion.

I will give it another go.

Let me know if this is the way you work your loader.

Push stick fwd, lift arms go down, push fwd past the detent, loader arms go into float. Pull the stick back and the lift arms go up. Push the stick to the left, and the bucket curls up, and push to the right, bucket tilts down.

Some FEL valves also have regen, and that occurs when you push the stick to the right past the detent, you will have fast dump.

Look at page in the PDF below for joystick description.

Wow! you may of just answered a mystery I had.

My loader valve has the regen option and I tried but didn't notice anything different, didn't know there was a detente there to go past :confused2:

I'll have to try it again, can't really think of a need for such quick dumping, maybe snow removal. But I sure would want to know how it works, especially since I thought I knew it all :ashamed:

I tried again. almost broke the stick off.
I guess the cheap VTEKS loader just didn't think it was necessary

Do you have a joystick valve for your loader, or a valve with two levers?

How old is the tractor?

On the bottom of the valve, do you see a cap like device with two screws.

This joystick valve from Prince, is just an example of what a float assembly might look like. There are some little balls that drop in a groove when you are in float. If they are rusty or dirt is blocking the float action, you will need to inspect, clean and lube.

Look on page 7

Hi J J
Not sure of the brand of the valve.
I looked at the link and my valve does not have the extra levers.
I will try to get some useable pictures of it to post.
Old Gray market 80s 1500d.
:thumbsup:Loader probably put on in Korea or Vietnam.Just guessing.

Thanks Again.

In the top picture, it looks like you have a bolt miss. Is it? That might not let the valve work right.

Have you removed the caps on the lift spool to check the condition of the parts under the caps.

The picture I posted above, is an example of a detent assembly. If you remove the cap, be careful as springs and steel balls may spring out. have a magnet close by or a rag over the cap when removing.

You may not have a float, but most loader valves do.

I also noticed a valve body bolt missing. Sometimes, loose bolts or over tighten bolts will cause a valve not to work correctly.

I did a bit of research on my Vteks loader valve that might help. Mine had the marking BLB - a company out of itally with a small distributor in the US. I sent pictures of my valve to this distributor who contacted Itally and researched it for me. My loader valve did not have float or Power beyond. The fix was about $300 for a new valve...so I am waiting until I REALLY need it. BTW, my valve model was a bm40

Here is a link to some of the BLB valves in case they look like yours.

Well I was worried about the screw missing in the Valve cover.
I took the boot off and took a few pictures.
I don't know why the hole is empty but there is nothing for a screw to thread into.
See attached pics

The missing bolt I was talking about is on the valve body.

Post # 14 left side. There is a bolt and nut on the right side.

Those two holes on the top plate with the lever attached, is probably for use if the other holes get worn out.
