Has anyone ever converted a bumper pull trailer to a gooseneck? I have a 20ft 15000# trailer that I would like to convert to a gooseneck. Does anyone know where I might find some info on this matter? Thanks--Bhh

I have a question...

For what reason are you doing this?

If it's because you have too much tongue weight or too much sway, try some equalizers and sway control. It makes a HUGE difference.

What do you plan to haul and how heavy?

I would be willing to bet your tires are not rated high enough to hold 15,000 pounds.

I say this because I have a 14K 20 foot trailer and have a family member who manufactured trailers for a living.

I think some of what you refer to is covered in that thread. I do know that you won't carry more weight just from the conversion. A 15,000# trailer is just that, regardless of the hitch.

You may be right about the tires. It's good to know the rating on them.

I am doing this because the gooseneck that I have is too large for most of the stuff that I use it for. I have two bumper pulls that are almost identical; one is 18' the other 20'. Both are well worn but good trailers. I am planning to convert the 20'. My truck is a F-350 4x4 with a elec./hyd. dumpbed; it has a hitch attached to the frame which is accessible through a door in the bed. It has a gas powered 460 auto with transmission braking. My other trailer is a 30 foot 3 axle flatbed implement trailer. I just replaced an axle on it and sure could have used a small gooseneck while it was broken. I would much rather use a gooseneck and hardly ever use the other two even for small jobs. Thanks--Bhh
