I think it is important to have something like a tarp or piece of rubber between the wood and the ground. There is a lot of moisture that comes out of the ground.

I hadn't thought about the wet wood weight!! Dang it. Been cutting all standing dead ash lately killed by the emerald ash borer (dang bugs!) so I'm spoiled and haven't cut any green wood for a few years.

The 3 point with forks could that that, but you're right, I think our bucket is 1200 or 1500 lbs only.

Oh, but yeah, I wasn't thinking the whole face cord, just 2/3rds. So that's 1334 lbs - maybe still a little too heavy, but about the right size. Perhaps crates of 3 feet instead, two per cart.

I like the bag idea. Too big for my tractor I think. Do they make a smaller size?

Curious, do you need to dry before bagging or can you just dry in the bag?

I would fill the bags as full as the tractor could still lift but couldn't stack them. It doesn't work though, they need to be completely full or they shift, don't hold their shape and can even fall over. They become a bit of a mess after a while.

I had an issue with a bag a few weeks ago and ended up dumping it. I finally got around to re-bagging it today so I took some pics to show. And yes, wood dries very well in the bags.

Oh ya. I added caster wheels to the bottom of a skid and place the skid of firewood on that once I bring a skid over to the deck. Then I push it (no problem by hand) against the back wall of the house. I lay a canvas tarp on the deck and wheel the wood over one end of it and then fold the tarp over the rest and bungee the loose end down. I bought 50 bags if memory serves and they were about $2 a bag. I'm on my 4th bag and so far they will all be reusable.

This one's not my build, I've got my own thread going about my processor. The bags can last once if you're not careful but most can be used twice. I think I've had a couple last a third time but its hard to be sure.

I went over to the site but didn't see anything about how to order other than call them. Is there a minimum number you have to order?

I call to order, no online shopping option I know of. They are sold in lots of 200. The first time I bought bags he was good enough to break a lot and sell me 50. The second time he sold me 100. I'll likely buy more this year or next but will be buying a full lot. It sounds expensive (heck, it is expensive) but if you look at an extra $3.50 per face cord, it's not too bad. I pay about $35 per face cord to block and split my own vs $120 per face cord if it's cut, dried and delivered, so it's easy to justify that cost.
