My owners manual says "There are two types of anti-freeze available, use the permament type (PT) for this engine."
Also says, "Use clean , fresh water and anti-freeze to fill the radiator and recovery tank."

That is the "ONLY" specs in the owners manual. No SCA, no distilled water.:confused2:

But, my tractor is 6 years old.....(BX24)

I have owned BXs and never, never worried about breaking the trans cooling fan until owners here started talking about it. Now I'm usually aware of the issue with my BX25 even though it has the factory cover guards installed.
Thanks alot!!!!!!! Now I have to be concerned about antifreeze and SCAs or to little SCA or to much SCA or no SCA and all the other problems with antifreeze in all of my vehicles and I currently own 2 cars, a truck and 5 Kubotas!!!!!!!!!! Thanks alot you -------- heads!!!!!
I'll be hearing cavitation in my engines from now on!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I guess I'll be going to Barlows and trading all of them for new ones and just trade every 2 years and stop worrying about it. Same with my cars and truck.
Thanks alot again for giving me another thing to be concerned about!! Jesus, come soon and take me out of this land of worry and concern and proper maintenance required to make stuff last forever or until I die which may not be for another 50 years since I'm 65!!!!

my pleasure ! what better service can i provide than anxiety to my fellow senior? you don't think our service to society (& equipment) throughout our lives gets us off the hook do you? now let's see....what about?......

I'm probably going to go with Deere Cool-gard (yes in a kubota). It's what I use to service a friends tractors, and my backhoe and dozer when I had them. It costs a lot more, but it's premixed and already has the cavitation additive and it good for 6 years or 6000 hours. In the end it's much cheaper due to the 6 years.

i own a few kubotas and have been changing the coolant every 2 years like the books say. i have been using the universal prestone (yellow stuff) "fits any make, model, color antifreeze" with no sca's and water out of my garden hose. (book says nothing about sca's but i don't doubt that they might be needed. dealer told me any type of antifreeze that says safe for all metals.) i tried the 50/50 premix once and did NOT like it as i was messing around with getting the freeze point right after flushing the system. (since all water was used to flush out the "flush", there was still water in the block, the 50/50 premix was way too weak.) as far as the distilled water compared to the "hose" water, i feel i am ok using the hose water. need to use water during the flushing process and i am not buying that much distilled water, so... i feel i will be ok if i follow the 2 year and flush procedure as it is not that much water and it is only that much water. not like it keeps flowing in and brings all those minerals in constantly. it is just a few gallons once for 2 years. my b7800 has over 1000hrs, 6 years old, rtv has almost 600hrs, 5 years old, and b3200 is brand new with 88 hrs. all engines run great and have recieved all book stated routine maintenence. just my 2 cents and experiences.

Do not use tap water. It contains minerals that that will corrode your cooling system and or cause scale build up. If your water has chlorine or chloride in it that is very corrosive. You can get distilled water from a air conditioner or dehumidifier or for $1 a gallon at the grocery store.

:laughing:Green coolant = John Deere
:shocked:Orange coolant = Kubota
:stirthepot:pink coolant = Massey

How easy can this stuff get!!??:confused2:

I mowed yesterday with my Kubota F3080 and I started hearing the cavitation start after the first hour and after 3 hours of mowing it had gotten so loud and I was so relieved that I was done and didn't have to stop in the middle of the job as my engine was destroying itself!!!!
This is my third mowing season with this Kubota (about 65 hours on it) but I'll never start it again till I get a blend of all colors and all brands of antifreeze sold in all of the Auto Parts stores plus Tractor Supply, Trucking Companys, Walgreens and Wal Marts!!!!!!! Now who else may have some other type I've missed?????? Hey, I just thought of something.....maybe I'll check again with Gary at Barlows who I believe told me a couple of weeks ago that they just used

At the risk of being branded a heretic, or even worse a slacker, I'm with the guys that just inspect, check freeze protection, and add coolant as necessary. I've driven stuff for decades and this has always worked for me. I think a lot of the hype to change coolant is promulgated by coolant manufacturers.
