Thanks for the suggestion on tying down and anchoring the ladder. What I really need is a bigger ladder, but that would mean I'd have to climb it, and I don't want to climb it.

The real reason I don't anchor the ladder securly is I'm moving around from spot to spot as fast as I can. If the ladder seems solid, I go for it.

So far on this project, I've only had the ladder slip on me once. It droped about 6 inches. Scary!!!

Right now I'm trying to get over the fear of climbing off the roof onto the ladder. Getting onto the roof isn't too bad, but getting close to the edge, and then stepping onto the ladder is just about more then I can handle.

I'm leaning towards pulling my scaffold out just to get off the roof.

fear is safety's way of saying that it is unsafe. If you are not comfortable on the ladder, then don't go up the ladder. You only have one life to give and you don't want to give it up to a unsafe ladder. I knew a fellow that wanted to paint his home because the professional painters wanted too much he felt. I said let them do it and just pay the extra cost. He was well able to afford the price quoted, but was cheap. He fell from the ladder when he was 30' up and landed on his head. His funeral cost over $8000.... Painting the building was $5000. The right tool for the job is most important. Take the extra time to secure the ladder, because it takes longer to heal than it does to take the time to properly secure the ladder. Remember the old expression....... "if you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen".... I will change that to "if you can't stand the heights, stay off the ladder"..... Work safely so we can see you finish this project, even if that means getting some paid labor to help.

I gotta say you are an inspiration to us all..
I live in Wolfe City, about 60 miles Northwest of Ya. Just as soon as you get the place up and running, I would love to bring the wife down and spend a weekend at your park. We have a 35' class A, and are always looking for nearby places to light for a weekend !!
Plus, I can tell you about all the buildings and stuff I am plannign on buildingon our farm.. Get some input from you !

Danial, you and anybody else reading this is always welcome to stop by anytime. PM me so I can have the gate open first.

I've spent the last three days running around in circles. Mostly in Tyler ordering materials, but also talking with people and looking at stuff to finish it all off. The design is evolving as I go.

HVAC is coming in tomorrow, so I had to prep for that. No biggy, just wire and build a pedistal. They'll do the rest.

This afternoon I got back on installing siding. The vent was allot easier this time around.

Slightly off topic- Did you get any severe weather in your area from the hurricane? I have relatives in south Texas that had quite a lot of rain.

I believe that is the second or third time I have asked you about the weather. My wife says I am obsessed with the weather- maybe she's right (just about this one thing) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

No rain here, lots of clouds and in the evenings theres thunder and lightning, but no rain. This has been going on for the last three weeks.

My plan is to finish the home and get moved in by September. Even if it's not done, I'll be living there.

I'll spend the rest of the year taking out and burning trees, along with building my lake and finishing off my entrance.

I'll be ready to secure my financing to start building the place. If I get enough done before hand, it should take less then six months to build.

There's allot of ifs there, so we'll see.

After following your project, I am going to predict that your going to have to add some things to that list. With the pace that you do things, you will probably have that little list knocked out in 3 or 4 weeks. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
