There were some changes, and some new options as well. There was a thread on here about it a while back.

Here is some marketing material also: Kubota Dealer Meeting 2012 - New BX1870 BX2370 BX2670 & BX25D

Out of curiosity - if you could trade your BX25 for a BX25D, straight up, would you? Identical hours, identical prior use, both have your mods installed, etc.

Would I trade? No.

Other than the tach, which is a nice but superficial feature, there is really nothing else there for me. Now if they added more power (ie:more than 1hp) or ground clearance.. or addressed some of the notorious hydraulic whine.. or made the factory remotes compatible with the TLB.. or addressed the weaknesses in the fuel system, or gave the option to creep forward from the hoe operators seat.. maybe.

Kubota didnt address any of the real issues with the BX25 when they made the "D".. Its basically just an "appearance" package, The BX25 Lariat edition or something:laughing:

Much of what was on your link already existed on the bx25tlb. I dont know why they singled it out for the "D"? Marketing maybe?

Someone pulls up with theirs and says they'll swap their deluxe high back fully adjustable suspension seat with yours and you won't take it?

They'll swap their cushioned backhoe hydraulics you and you won't take it?

They'll swap their new dash with you and you won't take it?

They'll swap their backhoe boom with thumb with you and you won't take it?

Good lord man, you really should!

Good grief, some say there isn't really a difference anyway, so no big deal. Some say the differences don't matter because the plate buried down on the frame says BX25D. I guess I just hope, if the situation happens, that we're all decent enough to be frank with someone we may encounter looking to buy a used BX25D.

I bothers me to see some of the responses to the OP in this thread. What if he'd come here to Tractorbynet prior to buying. When he asked about a BX25D, would we even have thought to tell him about a difference? I'm betting we'd have thought he was indeed looking at a "new" BX25D.

How many threads have we seen here where a newbie is trying to do due diligence while looking at a used SCUT? "I am looking at tractor X with this many hours. Seems to be in great shape, blah blah... Can you guys help me with what sort of things I should check out on it?"

They get all sorts of good advise on here. I've seen it many times. He probably did come on here and read some threads like that. Now, have you ever seen a response to this question where a recommendation should include this?

"Check these specific things to be sure that it really is a tractor X, and not a prior tractor X. It doesn't matter if you got right down and looked at the serial plate and it says tractor X right there. It doesn't matter that right there on the owners manual says it's a tractor X. It might really be a old series/model tractor X."

In the case described in this thread, I don't blame the OP, and I don't blame the JD dealer. This is a Kubota marketing screw up in my opinion. If you want to continue to justify that screw up, have at it. I've ranted enough about this. Good luck to the OP!

I bought my used TC30 advertised by the private seller as a 2001. Three months later while changing the oil during the summer, I noticed a grungy plate on the motor and wiped it off. It read 2003. -My gain!

I don't plan to take sides in the argument, but from what I know the tractor has always been designated the BX25D as a model code, on manuals, price sheets, etc. In the older 60 series lineup, it was called and stickered BX25. In the replacement 70 series lineup, it got the D on the loader sticker and is formally called the BX25D. I can see how the naming might be confusing, but by every other nomenclature it has always been a BX25D. Regardless of what people called the tractor before, there never was a BX25 model code (similarly, my tractor is model "L3200D" even though everyone calls it an L3200).

In the end, I don't understand why the OP bought the tractor. He seemed to think he wanted the new "D" model because it was better and had upgraded features. But then he looked at and bought a tractor with none of those features, and no "D" sticker on the loader. The tractor may as well have been called a "shiny orange BX" for all the good it did the OP. He was obviously not real clear about the features he thought were so important.

You asked me and I gave you my answer. The things I listed above might be enough for me to take the trade, because they address the actual flaws with the BX. The other stuff is just cosmetic and doesnt affect performance. I have a deluxe suspension seat on my ZD and its nice, but so is the seat on the BX, Ive never felt it uncomfortable.

"cushioned hydraulics for the hoe", as a decent operator you shouldnt be slamming equipment around against the stops anyway. Again, not a selling point.

The dash is nice, but again purely cosmetic. Not a selling point worthy of a trade to me.

I have a thumb already. The D doesnt come standard with one so again its not a selling point over the "d". Maybe if it was a hydraulic thumb on the D

Why should I take it? Kubota really hasnt addressed the fundamental flaws in the BX and its still the same basic unit.

I think that the vast majority of TBN members would either try to describe the different variations available, or ask enough questions to sort that out.

I used the 8N reference earlier, and it's still a good one. People frequently will ask "I'm looking at this 8N" and we'll ask if it has a front, or side distributor, etc, etc, to make sure both the OP and anybody responding is talking about the same version. It's not uncommon for us to determine that the person is actually looking at a 9N, or some weird combination of the two, or even a later NAA model, and the OP wasn't aware of it.

Short version, I think most folks here would do the right thing :)

I think that is a bit different....looking at something that is 40 years old is one thing...looking at something that is 2 years old is another.

The point is there are differences and they are no where near the same model machine. Personally I would be ticked off and wanting something out of it. I think that small skid plate we talk so much about is a new to the D feature. The thing that protects that silly fan. In looking under mine and seeing the hits that plate has taken I am sure I would have lost the fan long before now....and I only have 30hrs on my machine. That alone would be enough to make me mad. Then with the brake thing, thumb and a few others yes it is a different machine.

One of the reasons to buy from a dealer is for that extra bit of assurance....looks like the dealer made an ASSurance out of this guy and they knew it and took advantage of it.
