Daryl, I used to lease all the time when I drove the old style Ford. Ford dealers were GREAT about that stuff. I dont lease any more because of the amount of miles I drive. Plus its a perpetual car payment. I don'y normally buy a truck I dont intend to keep for several years. The normal wear items and damage from my brain flagelance in the woods coupled with good equity just happened to all fall in line. Now I have a tractor and a fun buggy I no longer have to drive the truck down through the woods to make new trails. There is only 1 set up they way I want in a 300 mile radius so if the dealer trade goes sour I wont loose any sleep about repairing mine. They didn't look under neath either. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif But I'm sure they will send the bill to GM under warranty when they find it as the drive train is still covered. I had planned on keeping this one another 6 years. What year is yours ? I was suprised how easy it was to pop that blind upright with the diesel. Now I'm thinking about all the uses I can find to justify a wench....er I mean winch. I do have to take the lousy chrome plated nerf bars from the factory but the trade off was they through in a bed liner. No tonneaue covers for this one I want a fuel cell this time. Dave

Dave:

Mine is a '97. It only gets used for camping and sled trips as well as hauling hay. I put about 3K on each year.

I have a "beater" to drive to work.

Don't forget the chrome hitch ball on this one!!!!!

You will probably want to add a neon license plate frame and a decal of one of those guys peeing on a Ford emblem too!!

I do use my 350 as a fuel truck when I am haying. I have a 100 gallon diamond plate aluminum fuel tank that goes in the bed. It's L shaped and a tool box goes on top of it. Back when I had more money, I had DeeZee fabricate it to fit my specifications as well as the toolbox. Looks really snazzy in the bed of the truck.

We've got a new law in Texas this year, so that license plate frame might get you a ticket. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Dang Bird:

Does that mean that when my wife and I come out there with the camper, that I have to unplug my neon license plate frame?

Around the Motor City, they are really popular. All the 'bro's have them!!! The 'bro's are into underbody neon too.

I can leave my fuzzy lighted dice hanging from my rear view mirror can't I? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

"All the 'bro's have them!!! The 'bro's are into underbody neon too."

Around here, it's "riumps" (rims). 22-24 (20-fo) inch riumps and low profile tires. They've started moving away from neon.

It's amazing how much money is spent on stereos and riumps. In most cases, the stereo is worth more than the car.

Fivestring:

I heard a really good line on the cable last night. It applies in spades to quite a few people, 'bro's included...

I added it to my signature, at least for now. Thanks to Ted Danson.

Yeah, lol. I got stuck with the cheesy Wanna be factory Nerf Bars so I will get a polished chrome hitch to match /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif This is the first time in many years I have not had a Ford in the drive so I will have to skip the pee on you stickers. If I would have bought the F-350 king Ranch with the pimp daddy lighted running boards I would have had to order Curb feelers and fur for the dash. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Or I could have gone with the Dodge and paid extra for a ful size spare /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Now I know why that old Ford of yours looks so good....YOU DONT DRIVE IT ! lol. Honestly I an REALLY over all the bolt on junk and I didn't want any running boards etc this time. Just a fuel cell and a wench. I have yet to see the neon stuff on a truck but nothing suprises me any more. Dave

Daryl, I haven't read the new law myself; just read an article in the newspaper about lots of people being upset about getting tickets because of their license plate frames that were, in many cases, put on by the dealers when the car was sold, and a bunch of dealers are unhappy because they've bought thousands of dollars worth of frames that can no longer be used. The problem is that the frames have gotten so elaborate that many of them cover enough of the state name that it cannot be read, and now we have enough toll roads and people with "toll tags" that they're read by cameras and computers. So some folks who have not bought the toll tags are running through without paying and cameras record their license number, but also need to be able to clearly see the state name. And, according to the article, neon lights in frames create a glare that prevents the cameras from recording the license number, so they were made illegal, too.

Now as far as I know, you can keep your fuzzy dice as long as they're not big enough to obstruct the driver's view. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
