I had that happen to me but what I found for me was dirt build up between the radiator and oil cooler, but sounds like you checked all that already, maybe.

from the Deere site:

AUGUST 23, 2018
Overheating Fixed
5/5
"This is the best lawn tractor I have ever owned and at age 70 I've had many lawn tractors to compare it to. I could not have said that when I first purchased the X754 because it would constantly overheat. John Deere now has a fix for this problem. The part number for my particular mower (62 inch deck) is AM13376. I mow two acreages taking about 5 hours. Now I can mow both acreages without stopping to clean the screens."

The addition of full time 4 wheel drive adds a heat load to the system, hence I would use a fully synthetic motor oil of high quality to help reduce this load. As well as a fully synthetic oil to the deck gear box, and grease with a fully synthetic grease for the deck spindles. It all adds up.

John Deere Anti-Blowout Grass Kit - AM133765

Summit Racing offers a water wetter additive to help in transfer of heat, Deere should have taken all of this into consideration and added an extra row of coils in the radiator.

My X750 gets hot sometimes, but when the temp gauge gets up half way its time to clean the screens. I do this with a electric leaf blower. I lift the hood, blow off the intake screens, pull the internal screen, blow it off, then blow off the engine, and blow through both ways the radiator and trans cooler, I do this back and forth until I'm happy its all clean. Then back to mowing.

Also be sure your fan blade is installed properly, I'm sure it is, but good to check it anyway.

I have installed the "anti blow out kit" mentioned above. The picture shows what is installed and what is removed. It limits the light fluffy clippings blowing out from under the deck (mostly the left front). It has helped the amount of debris stuck in the screens and what I breathe.

what size mower deck is that kit for. I had to make my own last year because nothing was available from deere for my 54 inch deck.

My kit for the 62" deck was #AM133766. The above link for the #AM133765 kit shows it is for the 54" C and X decks.

Do you have the mulching blades/ deck attachments? Or does the deck discharge the clippings out the right side? If it does discharge out the right side do you have the high lift blades? I ask because I'm wondering if you can manage the problem by controlling the actual grass cuttings.

Just a guess, but I'd look seriously at the fins in the radiator clogged and plugged with a coating of dust and water that has turned to mud.
But then would think that a serious external surface cleaning (steam, mineral spirits, Simple Green, etc. ) by the dealer would have already taken that out as a possibility.

Good luck finding the problem.

I finally remembered to do this.
Here is where my X750 temp gauge sits, doesn't move for anything,
not once in five years has it gotten any higher than this, mowing hours on end in 90+ weather.

Is this what the rest of you are seeing?

Yep, that is the same place on the gauge as ours runs too.

06-28-19 John Deere.jpgOn the 2019 dash for the 700 Signature Series, this is what they look like.
3 notches showing is the hottest it has ever been, I know, not many hours.

new dash, have to admit not all that easy to read, kind of like the old style better for viewing, but I'm sure this
shows more data points, alarming, idiot lights. Oh to have six nice round gauges in front of us...

please note the little hole above your steering wheel. After five years enough dirt and crud fell in that hole and that steering wheel tilt mechanism
to totally lock mine up. Had to get dealer to take it apart, clean it, worked fine.

I bought a spare mower belt just to have, not cheap, but oem at 600+ hours still going fine.
Going to wait to see how long it lasts or until it starts to come apart.
I am going to replace the rollers on the deck this weekend, left side ones have flattened a little.
They were 8 bucks apiece or something reasonable, in a nice green box too.

It is the fine dry debris that most quickly clogs the radiator and extra cooler. I've applied extra sealing around any minor openings, but in the end it is simple clogging. The temp gauge climbs and then the PTO cuts off (thermo switch I am told) and then if not immediately cooled down, the engine will shut down. This is again is our 754. And yes, we think it is terrific other than shutting down regularly while mowing dry grasses.

Really frustrated.

Don't know the history of your X754, and wonder if water has been used to try to clean the radiator fins. If so, I'd suspect there is mud caked in there and restricting air flow.

beentere- I was thinking that a good project for today. I have some mowing to do so I'll do that first. Good suggestion. I'll report back whether it makes any difference.

Sorry to report that with dry, light grass(es) swirling around the tractor still ends up on the radiator. First PTO thermal cut-off comes on (no mower) and then at even high temps the motor will stop.

I have no idea what to do at this point. Has done this since the first day. I have had John Deere dealer reps out multiple times. Had the John Deere District Service Rep come out and he replaced the engine fan. Still the same.

We really like this tractor and mower. One of Deere's best, except for the overheating problem.

can only guess you have a coolant blockage somewhere or clogged radiator. All of which JD techs should have picked up on.
Possibly a bad waterpump? Bad radiator cap?

Mine continues to operate flawlessly at 730 hours; wish yours did

I think you have a legitimate reason to ask JD Corporate to give you a replacement mower
