Definitive Kubota Orange budget replacement

I can say, In Canada, the kubota orange is about 18$ a can,
I used 3 cans for the top, side grill fenders, grill and loader.
With four cans you should be good to go for your backhoe,
I used the cheaper paint for the rims, ( chevy orange)
Kubota paint in the spray cans is awesome, spray it on, (in the sun ), let it sit for about 10 minutes,
give it a second coat and your done, dries nice and fast, I Liked it.
I'm sure it's cheaper in the States.

Thanks for the tip on the paint. I still have some official Kubota paint in a qt. can, but having a spray can would make little quicky spray jobs more feasible. I wonder if Rustoleum sells this same paint in pint and qt. cans, too? The Kubota stuff is prime quality, but at $40 a can...

When did they change to the new color? My BX is a 2005.

The "new orange" is no longer new - the change was in the mid '90s I think. My L345 and L4150 were the old less-red shade - but the L5450 is the redder "new orange". Color matching is iffy because the "new orange" fades in the sun. Pics below are my old-orange L345 with new-orange loader.

I posted above that Home Depot sells Rustoleum lobster red online for store pickup. But it's slow. After ordering a case, they say the store will have it in 2-3 weeks.

Here's a color comparison for those interested - I painted my snowblower chassis yesterday with the lobbie red - my BX is in the background. It does appear a little more red, but it's pretty subtle. (note the re-engineered side skids and fan blade reinforcement...)

Jay, how old is your BX -- I bet the paint has faded a little. I painted a hydraulic cylinder and cannot tell the difference between this paint and the Kubota orange on my relatively new (~9 months) L3200. It's a darn good match. Does look redder than my box blade though, but I know that paint has faded a bit.
