I'm in the market to buy a 14k GVWR bumper pull deck over trailer. I've been researching them online for awhile now. I've called a few local dealers about some other brands but their prices were too high compared to what I can get an equivalent Diamond C for. I went and looked at a couple Diamond C trailers yesterday and they looked really nice. They seem to use better components than some other manufacturers. Unlike some other manufacturers whose trailer I've seen, all of their wiring is in conduit inside of the trailer frame. The wiring is also cable vs individual wires too. Diamond C also has a 3 year warranty on the trailer.

I've haven't been able to find many reviews on them. I talked to a local guy who builds trailers, and he said they are one of the better trailer manufacturers out there. Is no news, good news ?

One thing to keep in mind, Diamond C rated their tandem 7k axle trailers at 14,900 lbs, instead of 14k. Might make a difference if youæ±*e trying to stay under a certain weight.

He's likely referring to some of my recent truck upgrade discussion. https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/trailers-transportation/418048-newer-3-4-ton-advice.html the extra 900lbs over axle capacity is going to make staying under 26,001 GCWR (needing a CDL range) & not overloading the truck payload wise a bit more problematic. Not impossible, but just requiring some diligence & finding the proper rated one.

I've been happy with my DiamondC otherwise. Wood decking is a little soft & I really need to seal it up. But the trailer is sollid. Pulled great behind my Tacoma when I was getting 500lbs of ham radio tower. Was a much nicer drive than the F250. 20180618_122125.jpg20170909_182516.jpg

A 20’ is too short for my M59. It needs a 22’ minimum 25’ being ideal. If you don’t have a backhoe a 20’ is probably enough. This is a 20’ pictured.IMG_7631.JPG

22' deckover power tilt. I'm not a fan of the deck height or the deck angle required to load or unload. But it means no fenders to deal with. I couldnt fit my flail mower between fenders. Also no fenders or other obstacles to deal with loading non vehicle stuff over the side.

22' will fit a Grand & impliment easily. An extra impliment gets pretty crowded but is doable. You loose the last few feet of the deck as usable space on a gravity tilt due to ballance issues.

I miss the low low deck on my old 16' gravity tilt. But it was way to short. The super long tongue was the only reason it kept working as long as it did. The ease of loading & determining ballance was undeniable though. I assumed I was going to replace it with a gravity tilt with a small fixed front deck. But I ended up with the deckover power tilt instead. Thank you. Sounds like I'm on the right track. I will be hauling my tractor down to New Mexico to work on my daughter's place next spring. If I25 between Denver and Colorado Springs is still all tore up, I'll be going through your home town on Hwy 83.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts a year and half later. Sorry to hear about all of the problems that you had with your trailer. From my research so far, it seems that all of the brands ( PJ, Load Trail, Kaufman, Gatormade ) that I have looked at so far all seem to have their fair share of problems. Some of the problems with your trailer build are inexcusable IMHO.

I just spent a bunch of time reading the 3/4 ton truck thread. I should be under the magical 26,000lb GCWR limit with my current truck and proposed Diamond C trailer. I won't be using the trailer for commercial use, it will actually be for farm and personal use. The biggest use for the trailer over the next year or so is going to be hauling building materials for a barn expansion. Another reason why I'm thinking about getting a deck over instead of a low profile trailer. I won't have to fight the fenders on a low profile trailer.

When I was the dealer on Saturday he demoed that exact trailer for me. It was sweet. It is about a 2k upgrade over the trailer I'm currently looking at. The one I'm llooking at is a 22' with the extra wide ramps. If money wasn't an object or I used it to make a living then I'd probably could justify the extra cost. I was originally looking at low profile trailers but everyone said I'll regret getting one because the main use for the next year is going to be hauling building supplies. A deck will allow me to unload stuff with my tractor a lot easier.

The deckover sucks for loading machines on due to the deck angle & height. Gravity tilts suck because of the fenders. Neither is inherently bad or wrong, just different objectives. I haul my tractor way more than others stuff so dont get the benefits as much to some degree. But I'm glad I got what I did due to the flexibility.

I had a 20 foot trailer which was really too short. I sold it. I shopped around and decided on the Diamond C's. I ordered a tilt bed in the 24 foot length, (and 8 foot stationary bed). The dealer said it would take a little over a month to build and be delivered. That trailer was about five months in the making. I tried calling the company out in Texas more than once and got nowhere. Dealer was no help. A **** of a way to run a business.

However, when the trailer came in I was satisfied with the welds and job they did making it. I think they are a really nice trailer. I decided to double check the bearing play after using it a couple times. After jacking it up, I noticed that one wheel had way too much play and the others were OK. Taking the dust cap off, the spindle nut would not tighten nor unscrew. That's because the axle threads were stripped. I think one of the work monkeys at the company must have used an air ratchet to tighten the spindle nuts up. So...I took my trailer back into the dealer and dealt with them about honoring the warranty. The axle would need to be replaced. So...two and a half months later I had my trailer back with a new axle. I double checked that axle, right there at the dealer when I picked the trailer up...both sides. The dealers selling trailers and fixing RV's are also undependable in getting things fixed. They put jobs like mine off to fix more money making RV's first instead of warranty work. I had some words with the owner.

Bottom line...if you order one or if it is on the lot...go over it with a fine tooth comb. Jack the wheels up and check bearing play at the dealer. You may look like a PITA but I think it is a wise thing to do. I think the quality control was lacking at the plant when I ordered my trailer. And don't expect it to come in on time. That's my story.
