Years ago I converted all my financial activities to online accounts. For me - it's just a whole lot handier and saves miles & miles of driving.

Over an average year I write less than five paper checks and go inside these brick/mortar facilities less that two times.

Yes, it does take some adjustments but it sure saves time and a whole lot of unnecessary traveling.

Maybe I should start a thread asking how many in 2020 have a Landline?

I still have a local phone. live in family-owned telephone co. area. outside carriers not welcome.
So know the name and family name of owners and employees. also, the past week line was dead because of a backhoe operator decided to dig 4 foot deep to cut the cable. when realized no service .used cell to report the outage.had to drive over a mile to locate the signal. -108 dB just doesn't excite the tower to respond.
it was repaired within an hour and 2 company employees called to check availability of the line.
been with this co since the mid '50s. before the old Bell system was still around. open wire glass insulators on poles or under power lines. impersonal if reporting a phone problem.

After the recession of 20s now 100 years ago Dad said never trust a Banker or Lawyer. He lost his farm for a banknote of $1000. Due payable the date of note and banker called for full payment. claimed the farm for payment.
Guess times getting tough again.

About the same.

25 miles to the bank. Use it once in a while but less than 10 times a year I am guessing....and even that "need" could be done electronically if I wanted to. But if you need a bank draft or certified check, I am thinking you need physical access.

Not a branch anywhere here with drive through... casualty of crime and the few remaining fell because of the anti car green movement... cars idling bad and reducing parking at every chance to steer people to transit villages and public transit.

How do you get cash online?

Never had an ATM card or Debit Card but have known two people forced at gun point to withdraw money from ATM machines... one in Hayward and one in San Leandro... just never seemed like a good thing idea here.

Wonder of the post offices will be closed... although they are all behind Plexiglas...

We don't use much cash. When we do want some, we go to the ATM. I think I might take cash out about every 3-4 months at most. And then it's usually only right before we leave for a trip out of town, or to a place that I know only takes cash.

We cancelled our land line 6 months ago. Transferred the number to an old iPhone and added that line to our cell phone account. $10 a month VS $45 a month.

$35 a month X 12 months = $420 a year, or about 2 rolls of TP in 2021.

Those that bank online is this limited to personal banking or are you banking online for business and Trust Accounts?

I really don't understand your aversion to an ATM/Debit card.

My wife and I both have ATM/Debit cards that are tied to our checking account. We use if for things like ATM withdrawals, groceries, gas, daily needs, etc... we've had them since they were available. Never a problem. If it would get stolen or used without our authorization, it's protected and we get out money back. That happened once. The financial institution notified us of suspicious charges, we cancelled the card and they issued us a new one. We picked it up the next day and we got the money refunded.

Then we have a credit card that we use for larger purchases, on-line shopping, things where we'd want the protections you're concerned about.

Then we have "the big card". That one is tied to a home equity line of credit. Rarely used, but nice to have.

The cards make things very easy for us. I've only gone into the facility maybe twice in the last year, and that was to meet with a financial advisor or pick my wife up for lunch. :)

The ATM/Debit card has replaced the check book, for the most part. We consider it to be just a plastic check book. No different and a lot more convenient.
