Dowsing, Devining, 'Witching' for Water

Locating pipes in the ground with the L rods works on magnetism. It's a very slight magnetic field, but it's there. For those who know what a Schoenstadt locator is, I have used one for years to locate buried wells. I can also find buried wires that have quite a bit of amperage running through them. I can follow buried pipes because they give off different sounds from one end to the other because the magnetism is stronger at the ends than in the middle even though they are coupled together. I'm talking about galvanized pipes not plastic.

I have to say that anyone who says they can locate water in someones yard is so full of it because no matter where I drill I will have water when I'm done. And for those witches who can find water, why don't you tell us where water ISN'T so we can drill there and prove you wrong?

I can say, that a fella "witched" our well, and we were never low on water, EVER!, My NJ transplant neighbor (unfriendly city-iot )hired a guy to dig a well because he "buried" his well cover under an EXPENSIVE decorative sign he had built to "hide" it.

Anyway... he dug hole after hole and sunk tile after tile without success (telling the guy where HE wanted HIS well...) until he hugged our property line and dug next to mine.... I didn't bother telling the clown that there was very high amounts of iron in it,like,,, COFFEE brown... and watched him ruin his white siding and speed boat with a sprinkler :laughing:

I'm not going to say the dowsing doesn't work.

But I'm also going to say that there isn't a single dowser in the world who's willing and able to prove he or she isn't a fraud.

There may be some areas of the country where you will always 'strike' water. Here in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains that is not true. Any local well driller will tell you they cannot guarantee water. Now on the other hand if you bore 600 feet or more you're likely to hit it. In these parts that's an expensive endeavor.

Very true. We used to have a piece of land up in North Carolina (Franklin) that had a 660' 6" well that produced a lot of water. It was rare for those parts. I know some people up there have wells deeper than that and can't hardly get Humidity out of them.

I had to fix the depth of that well. I had 60' and it was really 660'.

Most the old timers would just laugh at the offer in disbelief. To them this internet nonsense is hokes pokes. i never tried dowsing with the proper limbs, but getting wires to cross over a buried pipe i can do any day. I dont expect anyone would pay a million to see it.

Well, I'll be trying this in a couple weeks. I have a 1/2 mile water line I need to locate so I know where to disc a fire lane and NOT hit the water line...

On this property I'm living there is no wells 3 have been dug by the old hammer drill method around 1920 then my parents purchased the property 1948 needed a well and hired a man to dig well he drilled down to hard slate and dry hole.
Yet there is springs on this property running a constant flow of drinkable water Had a man water witch and he agreed no water then told him about the old dry wells. he crossed over them and never had a feeling there was water.
For the cattle I have built dams across the area below the springs and they stay full of water.

I don't know but maybe there is something about witching a well but also found out they can say no water also.

Yep, I don't want no stinking million bucks. either. I can tell you this Moss, If I thought I could find water with a peach tree limb or a set of coat hangers, .... well... 'nuff said.

I use 2x 18" copper rods, loosely held parallel to the ground. My elbows are in close to my body. I then clear my mind, relax, think about flowing water and then slowly walk along.

If I did that I'd have to pee in about 30 seconds.

We don't have too many uses for dowsers here in northern Indiana. As someone mentioned, pretty much anywhere you dig a hole, you'll find water if you go deep enough. Every credible study has proven dowsing no more effective than random chance.


To anyone that believes in it and thinks they can do it, etc... man-up and take that challenge and win a million dollars. I would enjoy nothing more than witnessing something amazing.
