Re: dressin\' up an old YM187
No kudos to me, I sent my parts to the body shop! Well, I took them to one, but the guy who aqctually did the work took them home and di them in his barn. He sandblasted them then primed, filled a few surface rust imperfections and put on a nice coat of paint. He also color sanded a bit and polished everything when it was done. I think he did a great job and can't wait to get the sheetmetal back on the tractor. I spent last weekend spraying a coat of green on the frame and trans and it came out pretty good. I have some new fasteners arriving today and this weekend it should be back together. The hardest part of this so far (in addition to not going too far with it!) has been the wheels. I just didn't want to spend the money to have them broken down, sandblasted and repainted, so I took my little angle grinder with a good stiff wire brush and went after them, all I did was knock off the loose stuff, then brushed on a good coat of Rustoleum white, but they look great from 10 ft away. I have to keep telling myself, "it's a tractor, not a show car"!
I noticed these pics are really grainy, they actually look even better than these pics..........
