The FAA limit is 400ft from the point of take off, however, I have had mine much higher before I knew about the 400ft limit.

I've "heard" that my Drone will go to 2,650ft.

So how big a property could you take a picture of and are the lenses suitable? I mean if one wanted a straight down image of 100 acres . I'm guessing you still need an aircraft or satalite.

That's a good question. I don't think I've ever experimented with that. At 400ft altitude I don't know what the picture would encompass. Problem would be that the outer limits of the picture will "bend". At the outer edges you'll get curved distortion.

Heck, yeah, that come even lead some people to believe the Earth isn't flat.

At 400ft you can see the curvature of the horizon. I imagine it would be even more evident at higher altitude.

I know practically nothing about drones.
Looking to buy one as a Christmas present for 40y.o. stepson.
Can you get one for under $100 that has a screen on the remote
so that you can see what the drone sees ?

How about under $50 ?

Any recommendations ?

Arky, I've never shopped for a low cost Drone so I can't help you much. With today's technology I'd probably Google it. Be much easier than driving around checking stores. I think Wal-Mart even sells Drones now.

I think my Brother paid a couple hundred for his. It ran away the first flight. Now understand, that might have been his fault, but he lost it.
