These are the muffs I wear. I bought them for working in the wood shop, so I could still talk between tool uses, but the electronics went dud on them in short order. They are, however, still well worth the price even without the electronics. They are super comfy, fit earbud headphones inside them and work so well I can never tell if my compressor is running or not (I end up feeling it to check), and it is one of those oil-less compressors!

When mowing, I usually wear this Asia made device which is quite effective to reduce the noise level. The radio is not very efficient, the volume changes quite a lot when you change direction with the tractor, but plugging in any walkman or phone is perfect.

For me It's too late for muff's, I'm now in the need of a hearing aids, I sure wish I had taken better care of my hearing when I was younger, but as it were my construction occupation along with one of my favorite pass time of drag racing and Moto X pretty much done the damage, so my Yanmar has little effect to do any worst damage,
I'm glade to read their are some who are concerned in taken care of themselves:thumbsup:

When I had my Yanmar I always wore my STIHL ear muffs, especially when mowing. I haven't worn them on my new Deere yet since it runs a lot quieter but when I listen to music next time I run the Deere I am gonna try out the headphones under the ear muffs and see how it works.

used one of the decibel apps to measure the noise level from my B2920. In the seat it reads at 85 DB at around 1600 RPM and at PTO speed it's 100 DB. Definitely wise to have earplugs in at either level, though I often use it around 1,000 rpm if I'm not moving something heavy.
