Youæ±*e not the first one to say that.
I don稚 have an IR gun.
Other methods were suggested to find it.

A low tech method I used before IR guns were affordable was to rub a crayon (I used a yellow tire crayon) on each port area and watch which one melts last, or just use your hand checking each one as it warms up from a cold start.

Is it an inline 6-71?
If so, another thing to check is injector rack screws.
Also, on older engines, injector springs will break and disable the injector.

I used to maintain a fleet of 10-15 trucks with 6-71s, so I have seen just about every problem they developed.
I remember when you could buy genuine DD cylinder kits for $51.00 in the early 1970s.

I started the engine and checked for heat at the exhaust manifold. Three cylinders were getting too hot to touch, and I could still hold my hand against the fourth. It was cold. The cylinder closest to the bell housing. Might get the valve cover off today.

I got the second cylinder apart, it is in better condition.

The gland does not need machining, it looks good enough. The nut is missing the Teflon.

Oh my, I always wanted one of those.

I borrowed one from a friend when we ran a fleet of trucks, used it to drill holes in frame rails for mounting reservoir tanks for wet kits.

I want to build a fabrication table out of 1/2" plate, and that would be the ticket to drill a grid of threaded hold down holes.
