I think you'll find statistics show most EV customers do not buy a second. Wanting something to be true doesn't make it true.

I can't distinguish whether or not you are arguing with yourself, or simply forgot to include a data link....

Please link the stats you are talking about.

Outside of the oil industry, I have trouble understanding why anybody cares if other people choose to drive EVs.

So you throw out 80% then make your argument. Lol. Listen, empty your electric car, then use a generator to charge it, measure how many gallons you use to charge it, then drive to empty the battery, and see your milage, electric cars get about 1mpg.

Actually no. It will have mileage about 5-10% lower than comparable ICE car. The conversion from mechanical power to electric and back to mechanical is around 90%.

When you find out 25% of EV's are bought by government the numbers are worse.

I think detaching yourself with government (Canada power is government) reliance is very attractive to many. The extra money and issues with battery cars weighted against government control, everyone has to make their own decision. I agree as long as media and governments continue to convince people of a need for EV, and tax payers subsidize them, a small market will remain.

The fact also is that electric energy cost is more or less stable and predictable while cost of gasoline or diesel is volatile and unpredictable. You are hostage of the oil based energy producers you have no control over at all.

Check the price of electricity in Ontario. Went from one of the cheapest in North America and supported industry. Now Ontario "Green" energy is the most expensive in North America and is up there with Finland and German green power due to subsidizing wind and solar.

It's more efficient to invest in your earnings potential and pay, rather then wasted efforts to look for small savings in energy use. Concentrating on earnings beats figuring out how to make less go further every time.

Cool ambient temps and good angles this time of year, my 6.405kw array is working good.

Exclude 43% of the market, then draw conclusions about re-purchase rates ?

That's about as meaningful data-wise as saying I've been driving for 40 years and only re-bought the same brand of vehicle once - therefore concluding that I hate almost all IC based cars and trucks.....

Has anyone driven a Bolt yet? Curious about the ride/suspension. I drive frostbiten roads to commute so I'd like a car that handles the bumps well.

Anything that small will be uncomfortable, unless you are very young or small stature.

I was curious about that too. Car & Driver seemed to think it was ok.

From Car & Driver's test drive:
...comfortable ride over broken pavement cushioned by well-tuned damping. The Bolt evidences a similar level of chassis-tuning competence to what GM has achieved of late with vehicles as varied as the Cadillac CT6 and the Chevrolet Malibu. Without being punishing or overtly sporty, the Bolt steers tidily, turns readily, and rides amicably.

80 % of energy in fuel is used just to get it to you. Then ICE uses about 20% of what is left to make power to turn wheels of your car. Electric car uses more 90% of what is left in the fuel. That is why electric cars are 4 to 5 times more efficient.

You are talking to HS. Posting facts has no effect on him.

India is targeting 100% EV's in less than 15 years. They need solutions to horrible urban smog and the high cost of imported petroleum.

India eyes all-electric car fleet by 2030: Piyush Goyal

India goes for e-ride, eyes all-electric car fleet by 23: Piyush Goyal - The Economic Times

Indian news is a little confounding. For more on this search recent news for Piyush Goyal, the 'Minister of State (Independent Charge) Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy, and Mines'. I read several versions before it was clear how they intend to proceed with this.

India means business in solving pollution. They are gaining on it compared to no action. A decade or so ago they banned diesel for trucks and busses in the cities and also forced conversion of all the little jitneys from Vespa-like smoggy two strokes, to CNG. Perhaps India and China will be the first nations to have a majority of EV's.

They need to do something, what a polluted mess.

Mankind can pass all the laws they want, still doesn't affect the laws of nature .

Yes i have put over 10,000 miles one one Bolt drove it through the michigan winter. It has a very sporty driving dynamic. It handles expansion joints on the freeways very well. It is a little stiff going over bumps in parking lots. Ive seen lots of comparisons too ford focus s/t. Its very roomy the back seat will accommodate a 6'3" passengers without sacraficing the drivers legroom I'm 5'9"

And we are supposed to be "Green" here...... what a joke. It's probably a lot easier to find retail CNG in India, than here.

Bolt is an electric Sonic.
That is not true sonic and trax are built on Gamma 1 platform. The Bolt is on its own unique platform G2 if anything it would be closer to the trax encore as it sits up much higher. But the chassis is ground up purpose built to be an electric car. Sonic and trax have front bearings that press into the knuckle. Bolt has serviceable hubs that bolt into the knuckle. Brakes corners are common with the Volt and new Cruize. And FNC treated/coated for long life
