Engine block heater malfunction on TC33D

/ Engine block heater malfunction on TC33D #11
The latest issue with my TC33D: the engine block heater now trips the GFI outlet in my garage any time I plug it in. I have not yet even looked to see where this is on the engine. I'm hoping it's not a big deal to get to. As far as I know, this was a factory installed item (could have been a dealer installed accessory, but I think they get all of the tractors they order this way).

Time to start poking through the parts and service manuals to see what I can find. If anyone has messed with one of these and has any good tips on what to look for, please pass them along.
Block heater's are a simple resistive element in the circuit. they either work or they don't. More than likely your GFI is malfunctioning.

A block heater cord. They corrode at the end that plugs onto the block heater.

I believe it has to do with the heater element being "on" and also the vibration of the element from running the engine at the same time
I used to do the same thing, leave it plugged in while running, then I read the paper that came with the heater (Kats). Why did I eventually read it...I was waiting for the tractor to warm up and was bored LOL. Instructions, who needs 'em :).
Apparently the running engine causes cavitation around the element causing hot spots. Mines an inline heater but maybe an actual block heater is different.

I suspect this may be the problem. The tractor is 21 years old. I hope to get time to trace the cord tomorrow afternoon. I'm wondering if the cord alone can be replaced, or if it's molded in to the heating part. I'll guess I'll se tomorrow.
I use Messick's for parts. CNH has a great parts website that you access thru them. It'll have parts diagrams showing you where the heater is. Not sure if it'll separate the cord from the heater though.

I'm probably looking in the wrong place, but I have been unable to locate this either on the Messick's page or in my hard copy of the parts manual.

Oddly, I can't find anything on it either. Sorry I guided you there. I'm sadly disappointed.... :(

You may be able to find a cord on ebay if that is what you need.
