Thinking about buying EA post hole digger. Has anyone out there bought one? Is there a big difference between TSC, or other brands?. I want to buy once, cry once, and be done. Have been looking for the last month on Craigslist ,Facebook marketplace all I see is high priced used/ abused Eqipment , or just junk. Lots of negativity about the TSC reviews. Rental is kind of sketchy with availability and price,I have called 2 different ones. Need by September 12 for project ,63 holes , hour and a half from any support. And then as needed around home. What size would be best auger 9 or 12 inch. Tractor is Kubota L 3901. Looking for input from others. Any and all input welcome. Thanks and good luck on all your projects.

When I bought my tractor from a local dealer a couple years ago I also bought attachments from them. An auger they had was a Danuser 9". Never regretted it. I've since bought new cutters and spiral point from Danuser (hit rocks).
To me it was buy once, it's very well made. Others I've seen were not as heavy duty and won't last as well I've heard. I'm sure they're fine if soft soil or limited use.
Nine inch to me has been right size for posts and 6"x6" pt posts in concrete. A 12 would take so much more concrete, the 9 I tamp in with 6ft steel tamping bar.

The old PH digger that I had was worn completely out and I ended up getting the EA6900 PH digger with the 12" auger a couple years ago. I went with the 12" because I use some discarded power poles and some are pretty big. I also bought the 9" bit this year to use with smaller line posts. I use small washed gravel to tamp around the posts instead of concrete and they're almost as solid as concrete and a lot cheaper.

Both dig great in dry or damp ground. The tips and cutting teeth are really sharp and both replaceable. I use it mounted to my 38hp Kubota L3600, it's very stable when digging and it's fairly easy to dig a hole that's 42-46" deep that's plumb.

When I'm not using it I leave it hanging between 2 posts up off the ground. Like any 3 pt PHD it's not fun hooking it up but that's not it's fault.

Central Pennsylvania here; Tried using a borrowed 3pt post hole digger (good quality, sharp cutters) and it was fine in the top foot or so. Once it hit hard dry clay that was it, even with the down pressure from the farmall fast hitch style tractor I had it on, just wouldn't dig that well, and that was without hitting any rock. I rented a skidsteer with hydraulic auger and it went through it no problem, including the thick shale I hit in some of the holes several feet down. I'd been considering buying a 3 pt version of my own, and I'm glad I didn't.

FUDGE, 1200.00 got new EA phd, hooked up did 3 holes around the house. Job I bought this for, lady an bf decided they would dig holes by hand to save money. So now I have a 1200.00 swing set attachment. It's hanging on a stripped kids swingset that I use as a parts hanger when painting parts. That works out to 300.00 per hole at my house. Should have rented one and charged them for it. Sorry for late update. Can only say that EA phd worked for me and that it did a good job.
