Excavator control patterns

   / Excavator control patterns #11
I just suffered a brief bout ebay madness and now find myself owning a mini excavator. I have basicly no experience running one.

The controls can be set to either "ISO" or "JCB". Is there advantage to one either in ease of use or popularity if I someday want to rent a bigger one?

Ed

Ed I have run equipment for years and one of the most aggravating things is having to change machines on a jobsite with different control patterns. Most excavators (tracks or wheeled) operate ISO, crowd(or stick) and swing on left and boom and bucket curl on right. I refer to the other pattern as backhoe controls, only difference being the crowd and the boom are opposite. I would suggest if you want to run bigger machines would stick with the ISO, but a lot of machines today are easy to switch. My personal mini does not change patterns but when I get off it and on my backhoe it doesn't take but 10 minutes or so and I am back accustomed to it. Hoped this helped.
