Extra leverage for pulling chain link fence posts(w/ concrete)

I have always seen it done with a RIM, not a tire on a rim. It holds itself upright and does not store energy that way.

Got it!

The original wheel-post in this thread said "car tire or truck with air in it not flat". The energy stored in an inflated tire can cause great injury when suddenly released.

I'm gonna stop by the tire shop to see if they have any old rims... would I want to get a certain size? 12"? 14"? Most cheap steel rims these days are pretty small.

I would guess bigger is better - Please post pics and your opinion of how this works - I was the dummy suggesting a 4X6 post (same concept) but I think a tire rim would work way better!

I would look for at least 15" rim. The bigger it is, the less times you will have to reseat the chain.
You might be able to get a bigger alloy rim that found a pothole for cheap.

legbuh, Don here,we alway's had air in the tire with out problems but as always safety first. We got this method from the Amish in northern Mo. as they were pulling hedge post out with horses. Maybe an old model A wheel, any way be safe and good luck Don
