LOL, not loaning my tractor.. regret loaning my car trailer to my daughter (she is careful, but her husband is careless). I told them I would give them a double axle trailer that needed some work (no brakes either axle). they could have put two complete trailer axles on and had a great trailer, but they bought a junk trailer (that cost more than a pair of axles) to call their own, fine by me. I don't generally loan any tools, but with this daughter building a house, they have a bunch of my stuff right now (not my tractor or trailer though).

Got one particular friend like that. Everything of his disappears, and I'm tired of hearing about it and him not doing anything about it. I consider that THEFT, I don't care if it's your son or not!

Human nature is strange. I bought adjoining property. One neighbor at first said how great I was, how happy I bought it, etc. But he was using it as his own!!! Cows, ATVs, etc. I explained in honest how my insurance company wouldn't allow that, plus I want to use it! Now it's like he hates me.
Other neighbors were great...then I buy new tractor and loads of equipment. They ask to borrow it. I tell them I'll be happy to do whatever they want...as long as I'm operating it. They should be happy. But...they don't speak to us anymore.
What tha'?!?
Other neighbors over the years I've asked to do things and they use their equipment and I pay them also! It's only fair...my opinion. Now one neighbor, I give him stuff...likewise he does same. I bush hog...the wife fixes us a great dinner. To me, that makes sense.
Sometimes, like in the OPs post, I wonder what the heck is wrong with a lot of people?

When you care what people think, or whether or not you are pleasing them, you become their slave in a sense. People ALWAYS have more respect for people that stick up and look out for themselves whether or not they like the results of it.

Kind of reminds me of the continuous stream of "NICE GUY" threads on the dating sites, that women would quickly swarm and attack! lol

While im in the dont share camp, i will share with 1 neighbor.

He has helped me a lot and will fix anything that breaks.
He bent one of my trailer ramps, he had it pressed straight. Borrowed my trailer in winter, he washes the salt off. He borrowed my PHD which i hadnt used in ages, and forgot i bent one cutting edge, he returned it fixed, and painted.

I needed a larger trailer, he now has a nice bigtex, he let me borrow it.

He's the best neighbor i could hope for. I help him when i can, but im sure he's done more for me.

I figured he might want to borrow my backhoe, but he now has a mini ex...

Our neighbors pretty much keep to themselves. I have helped a few over the years with odd jobs and it was a good excuse to be on the tractor. They all have been very appreciative and I don’t mind at all.
