Our garden has been anything but 'fast' food this year but the Veggie's are finally ripening up. The governor has applied for disaster assistance for area farmers due to the poor growing season we have been experiencing.

Every year at the family Christmas gathering we exchange gifts. My 'exchange' gift is a certificate for a box of veggies from our garden the following summer. Today was a prime garden day to assemble the Christmas veggie gift box. It's a sampler of just about everything we have growing. Here's a few pictures, fully assembled & ready for delivery.

I believe you're looking at the celery tops poking out of the box end. I cut off a handful of stems and left the rest of the celery plant in the ground to continue growing.

That's funny. TxDon thought it was cilantro and I thought is was parsley. They both have very similar leaves, and now I know that carrots also have the same leaves. I still have green parsley in my garden, but my cilantro has all gone to seed. It's now drying in a box in my basement, ready for me to remove the seeds to make coriander.

I thought I'd go out and take a picture of my carrot tops just for comparison sake. See the attached picture. It may be difficult to get a true feel for size since the picture has all carrot tops and nothing in relation to actual sizing. Here goes.....

Well, the Veggie gift box came back today. Empty and clean. Not a peel, morsel or crumb. Not even a speck. Just smiling faces.
