Its funny I like the strong beers but I don't like the IPAs I have tried. Go figure.

Wow. She is going to let you get a mill and press. You better keep her. :D

I was trying to figure out how to hook the tractor PTO up so it could mill and press. Or would that be too messy? Too complicated?:D:D:D:D:D

I am under the impression that those breweries that do not abide by the brewing laws of 15?? just don't quite have a proper product!:D :D :D

I like chewy beers (you know what I am talking about if you do to...) :)

I will decline certain beers that are free no matter what. I won't list what they are either so as to avoid controversy... but do feel free to try to find out :D

I tend to buy local or regional brews. I'll drink the summer ales seasonally.

woops - it's 5:00 PM in the east - gotta go and, um, consume a chewy brew :D

I have to say I am blessed with brewpubs and breweries being just across the river from Portland,Or.

I prefer the dark beers...the darker the better. Current favorite for the last few years (out of the bottle) is Deschutes Breweries Black Butte Porter. If going out to a local brewpub then I really enjoy most of the darks on nitro..creamy smooth.

It's surprising how many regional beers are out there now. We were in Yellowstone last year and there were several beers I had never seen or heard of. I think one was Troutslayer or something. I like American microbrews better than any of the European brews I've had, though I admit I have mainly had only the ones available here. Guiness I can do without. The special Belgian brews are sometimes OK, but not usually to my taste. The Lowenbraus, Becks, St. Pauli's Girl, Heiniken, etc all taste pretty much the same to me. I like them, but prefer the American pale ales, weissens, and other products of the more local brewer's art. I'd like to visit every state in the union and every brewpub in each. How's that for ambition! I tried to make it to all the brewpubs in Denver once, but I got lost somewhere after the third or fourth.

Me too, though I used to say I like beers I ate with a fork. Have you tried Spaten Optimator?

I did try the above Spaten Optimator and indeed spit it back out. Again not a beer guy but advertised liquid in that size of bottle and the complicated uncorking process should not have chunks in it.

What a great thread!

My current local favorite is Old Thumper, which is made by Shipyard Ale. Not only is it great to drink, but I use a cup of it when I make chili, which is Mmmm, mmmm, good.

Whenever I travel, I try to try a local brew and lean towards the darker brews.

When in Ireland and the UK, the beverage of choice was usually Guinness - and even here stateside that's near the top of the list.

In the fridge now is flat tire ale and Alaskan Amber summer ale plus the required "yard beer" of MGD in cans. My favorite cold weather, winter, dinner beer, is as above noted black butte (pronounced black butt locally)porter from Oregon. Wonderful stuff and not as dark as it looks.

I've tried but never really liked guiness at all. Not for me I guess.

Otherwise I am a bourbon type guy. Jim Beam, Maker's mark, are always in the cabinet. Canadians Black Velvet and R&R for mixing. I just finished the crown royal on Saturday.
