Little Kings? Wasn't that a stubby Cream Ale?

Yes, I used to drink Little Kings back in Ohio when I was in High School.
I think they were 7 oz bottles.

Now, I prefer IPA's. Smutty Nose is my favorite and I like a Dog Fish Head
now and then.

My fave is Keiths India Pale Ale or Red.( i think it's genetic living in NS to like Keiths:D ). Other top picks are Rickards Red or Propeller Bitter.

I agree!

My work occasionally takes me to Canada. Kieths is my #1 choice while there. Good Stuff. Unfortunately, they don't export to the states yet. So at home it's the Beast for me (Milwaukees Best). I realize there is no comparing Keiths with the Beast except that the company is paying for the Keiths and I have to buy my beer at home.:(

On a side note, I have always believed that the big US brewers always sold two versions of the same beer. 1 with all the advertising and 1 without. For example:
  • Miller Light = Milwaukees Best Light
  • Bud = Busch
  • Coors = Keystone
I have no real evidence to support this. Only a hunch.
Anyone have evidence to support or deny my claim?

Do any of you remember the Christmas beer Rolling Rock used to put out? "Old Frothingslosh" the pale, stale ale with the foam on the bottom.

Sounds like the voice of experience.... :D

Dan, I can also confirm this! Had my first Genny Cream Ale back in 1972 & was my beer of choice during the 70's.

Utica Club isn't bad either if you like a dry beer.

Genny Cream Ale... Now that brings back memories of college in the late 70's in Rochester NY. Never a favorite, even back then. Back then my favorite was Molson Golden or Heinekin.

Now I like mine darker. I like all of the following.
Samuel Adams Winter and if not available just regular Sam Adams.
Murphys Stout and if not available then Guinness.

But... a real favorite is a black and tan with Murphys or Guinness over the Sam.

The absolute worst beer I ever had was a local brew in Rochester called Topper. In college you had to have at least one warm Topper in you life. Horrible stuff. Not sure if it is even made any longer. Hopefully not as it was a waste of water, hops, glass etc......

DCJL Topper isn't in business any longer. Several years ago I was cleaning out my dad's garage after he died and found 3 cases of Topper. Really old, had to use a opener to get the bottles open, I guess dad couldn't get any of his buddies to drink the stuff.

Like a lot of people here I drink for quality and not quanity anymore, so that pretty much rules out all domestic beers.. I'm lucky in that we have two micro-brew houses in town. I'm fond of the Weizen or the porters.
Ya these are domestic brews too, but I'm talking super large brewing that brew quantity nor quality. Heck I wont (can't) drink budwiser even if it's free. two sips and I have a pounding headach.

My grass cutting/yard work beer is Rolling Rock's Rock Green Light, always drink a couple while cutting the grass in the summertime. Was surprised to see that AB purchased the Old Latrobe brand a few years back. First thing that tipped me off was the Old Latrobe Brewery in...St. Louis? My favorite high $$$ beers are the ones out of Cleveland's Great Lakes Brewery. The Dortmunder Gold is a solid beer year round, and their Christmas Ale sells out in record time. I'm drinking an GLB Eliot Ness as I view all the wonderful posts on TBN. $8.99 for a six pack ensures that all the GLB Beers are enjoyed in moderation. Saw one of the guys post about Genny Cream Ale, now that certainly brings back memories of Kent State for me. My room mate had an uncle that owned a bar in Mayfield, before the sin tax went through to pay for Jacobs Field and Gund Arena. The 3 of us moved into our apartment with 30 cases of Genny Cream Ale (all warm of course), and as luck would have it, we had no electricity our first weekend at school. Had to beg the gals next door to allow us to put a case in their fridge and went out to the local Acme to purchase.....40oz Powermasters...wow.
