My brother after college in early 70s spent a couple years going to 50 countries (hippy days). I liked two quotes he picked up from a holy man in Tibet. Brother asked him the secret to life. Answer was "The secret is to help someone. If you can't help at least don't hurt them".
Then brother asked what the man thought about possessions, collecting stuff. Answer was "He who owns cows tends cattle".
I thought they were pretty good.
