What foot wear do people have on when doing tractor work?
I have a nice pair of steel toe work boots, but sometimes I'm lazy and just run out there with tennise shoes.

I wear Irish Setter Soft Paws EVERYWHERE. Most of my "tractor work" is in a cab.

When I was younger and did more real work, I wore heavy work boots.

Well for this time of the year I usually jump in my knee high insulated Cabala's rubber boots because they are high and warm and water proof. The snow on the ground here is about 24" now so I can walk anywhere without having snow dump into boots.

Whatever you wear, make sure it's got decent tread. My tractor is a gear (not HST) and a few times I've tried to depress the clutch to stop the tractor and my foot slip off the clutch pedal. Obviously, if this happened at the wrong time, serious injury could occur. This most often happens when the ground is wet and the sole of my shoe is wet as well. I've thought about welding some sort of bar or cleat on the outside edge of my clutch to prevent this.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes this has happened to me when I was wearing my tennise shoes, but never with my work boots that have heavy cleated soul. I also have a clutch to deal with, so after having my foot slip off the clutch, I'm more diligent about wearing my work boots.

Whatever I happen to have on when I need to get something done. Boots, tennis shoes, even no shoes every once in a while. Not something I would advise, just what I do. Not sure how my foot would slip off the clutch, the only time I’ve even been close was with a lot of mud on my boots. In the summer I bet I wear tennis shoes 50% of the time. If I miss the clutch it’s usually my fault.

Snow boots for plowing, otherwise Red Wings with the composite toes. The strength of steel toes without the weight. Sometimes sneakers, but I usually regret it since they get all muddy.

Usually my Wolverine work boots but sometimes just my tennis shoes.

I only have 2 pairs of boots. My cowboy boots for everyday use and a pair or insulated lace up boots for winter. Both are Red Wings.

Size 18--reason why I only have 2 pair...they are expensive!!

Sneakers when I'm mowing and a pair of chukka boots for any other task during good weather.
Winter time, it's a pair of old LL Bean snow sneakers (had 'em for years...no idea if Bean still sells them, but they're great) or high top insulated boots.

Wolverine Durashocks when I am on and off the tractor all day or tennis shoes in the summer mowing.

I didn't realize we had so many tennis players on here.. you guys don't wear those little white shorts on your tractors too, do you?

I would not do any outside work without steel toed shoes - cab or not. I have boots and sneaker looking shoes with steel toed. Depending on what I'm doing. It does not feel right with non-steel toed shoes. Plus I might have to kick something  I think I got mine from Gremplers.

i also like the firm solid shank on my hd cowboy/work boots.

has saved me from nails in boards or other pointy debri many times.

I no longer EVER go out into the pasture except in boots. i save the athletic shoes for my 20min exercise.

heck.. my horse played 'gues smy weight' with me yesterday morning.. for sure glad I had boots on then.. :) a athletic shoe likely would have left me with a fat foot!
