Tried searching and couldnt find exactly what I've been invisioning in my head but I was thinking about making a notched V thick piece of plate steel welded in between two chunks of tube steel so I can slide this on and off my forks when it is needed, which I've seen done before but I thought if I added a leg or even weld a large rim to the bottom to give me a fulcrum and use the leverage of downforce from the loader and tractor rate to increase my lifting force on the stump.

Anybody seen this done before or think of reasons why I shouldnt try this method? My forks are overkill for my 25hp CUT so I dont really think I would bend them, ive used the forks before rammed under a stump with downpressure it was alot more effective

Something like this? BrushGrubber | Tree / Post Puller

It is hinged:

Yes something like that but make it mount further out on the forks and have a drop leg off the back of it so I can use the forks for more leverage with down pressure from the loader, make sense?

Yep, I know what you mean, curl up and arms down to pivot on the leg.

I used this on cedar trees back when I had a tractor. It had a hinged leg on it and a hydraulic top link. Back up against the tree with the leg on the ground, then retract the cylinder, it would push the roots out.

Clever - will seriously consider making one

Alan

I've been wanting to make one too. Here is a picture, I saved, of another one. I don't have a hydraulic top link so it may be back up and lift with the 3 pt.

The first puller I built was like your pic. I used it on a Kubota B2910 without FEL. It actually worked pretty well.

As for a fulcrum, you'll need the pad to be far enough from the puller that it's not sitting on the root ball or it will cancel out the benefit.

Here is the rest of the story, I didn't use it very long with the hinged leg fulcrum, because the tractor 3 point had enough lift to pull the small cedars.

Since using it backing up was literally a pain in the neck, I added the bracket for the top link, so I could turn it around. Cedars are very flexible, so any trees that the tractor would drive over, the Brush Boss would pull out.

It was much faster, just line up the tree with the center of the hood, drop the 3 point when the tree disappeared from view, raise it when it hit the trunk or the roots, the tree was pulled with out stopping .

My aim isn't quite good enough to snag small trees when driving over them, so I think I'd be inclined to add multiple V's (at least three total) to increase the odds of actually hooking the trunk.
