FRAM Filters...

thanks for sharing. I read someplace that the toughguard was the only recommended filter, so not surprised to see it highlighted with better QA in place. I used Fram for many years (the basic one), had one failure, then saw reports of poor quality & switched to WIX. I might reconsider. I like the friction grip coating on the end of the Fram canister.

Yeah, Fram has taken on the nose in the internet forums the last several years. A lot of the info in the past has been pretty vague at best, like cutting the filters apart and comparing them, and one "looks" better than the other. I've run a lot of Fram filters in the past and wouldn't be afraid to run one today.

I have been using the fram XG (extended guard) filters for the last 10 years and 10,000mi intervals.

I have nothing bad to say...

I have always used FRAM filters in my vehicles, if for nothing else out of convenience, and I've never had an issue...My brand spanky new Deere came right from the factory last year with an oil filter leaking at the outside crimp, and our race team had a catastophic engine failure due to a Deere oil filter. I have to wonder who manufactures those for them?

my 98 dodge gasser never say anything BUTY walmart oils, greases, lubes... and fram filters. i sold it to work. still running good....

most of my old ford tractors use some sort of fram filter.. and now some use a supertech.

my diesel trucks are using napa filters.. .. never have seen a fram cross anyway.... my wifes gas truck uses an ac-delco oil filter.. which is cheaper than stp or fram anyway... otherwise uses stp cabin filter..and fram air fitler.

Thanks for the update on the new quality controls behind today's Fram oil filters. I started back using them about four years ago. Wixs is still my go to if at a parts store but WM has better hours. :)
