If the trend continues then pretty soon all new vehicles will switch over to the cartridge type filters and and the old spin on filters with the drain back and bypass valves will be a thing of the pass. If it happens then the only difference will be filtering media and seals on the end of the element.

funny.. full circle... many filtration systems onthe old tractors started with canister filters.. and now many are going back.

my 6.0 PSD oil fitler is a semi cartridge. as well as the fuel filters on both my PSD's being full cartridge..
