FRAM Filters...

Wix or napa. Forget about Fram.

Last Wix I bought was junk. Took it back. It was a fuel filter for a LBZ Duramax. Plastic end cap and threads. The Fram and AC are metal.

By the way, this is a large spin on fuel filter like a oil filter.

I was thinking it was at mine as well. But i rarely go to walmart anymore. I have noticed that my walmart seems to have a smaller filter selection than i remember, but i do think years ago i remember then downsizing the selection to the main sellers.??

l.

ours cut it's spark plug section back to 3-4 types. cut oil filters back and GREATLY expanded air filters.. and those 'new' cabin air filters.

At Walmart, what sells and makes WM the most profits is king of the shelf.

I know a product distributor for a regional snack food company and I asked him how come their entire product line it not available in the store (WM) we were in, just select items. He said, Lays is a bigger company with more clout with WM and WM gives them more shelf space. They will only let us put certain items on display and give us only 1/10 the shelf the space as Lays. Not only that but the let Lays put other displays around the store but not his company.

In other words WM uses its huge buying power to get lower prices and big companys like Frito-Lays use that to squeeze out the competitors....These companies know that if they do not give WM the prices they want, WM takes them off the shelf or reduces the amount of product available in the store.

Also, just because a company makes various brands of filters does not mean all those filters are made the same. They will make to any level of quality and performance you are willing to pay for.

I have never used a Fram filter in my life but only because they were just not available around here in many stores and I never buy filters from discount stores because often times you could be buying old stock. Only discount store around here is a WM and I have a friend who is an AC Delco Service Center so thats where is get any filters I need.

Do you remember the Allison spin on goof up by Wix? Yet another reason why I will not support them.

Glad to know about the Wix problems. In particular knowing that Fram never ever made a mistake or ever sold junk.

Magnet from the GM filter plugged the holes on the wix filter. Had shifting issues caused by it.

I do remember that now.

When I had my Dmax I used the AC Delco filter the one and only time I changed it.

I use Motorcraft filters on my F150 (which are premium Purolators) that I get from Walmart for stupid-cheap. I've never figured out how/why they offer such a good filter for so little, but Ford got it right with their brand of filters and synthetic-blend oil.
