fuel from grass?

I believe the computer will adjust the flow, especially with OBD III. It's the make up of the gasket and seal material that will render inoperative the non E85 engines.

Based on the fumes I think it was methanol in the older Indy cars. I thought I read that today, because of politics, it is ethanol.

I think the Indy 500 cars used to run on straight ethanol.
In the past it was methanol, this year it's a methanol/ethanol blend, next year it's ethanol.

Re: previous post...Not sure what the IRL running ethanol has to do with politics. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

IRL wanted to run the midwest produced alcohol. Maybe PR would be a better term than politics. IRL has taken some press heat for non US drivers.

BTW why do they use alcohol? I've heard it was so pit lane refueling fires could be put out with water. I've also heard it was because alcohol allowed higher compression ratios.
