Okay...last picture. I won't bore you with more. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

These are our tomatoes and squash. I just can't believe how well they are doing. In the background you can see hills of melons and a few onions. The melons are slow starting, but they are beginning to put out runners, so I think they will be "going to town" very soon. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

On a fresh sunny morning or a soft summer evening weeding by hand can be very relaxing and enjoyable for some of us. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )</font>

With a garden this size, I still have plenty of little weeds that show up between plants. With the tilled soil, they sure pull up easy though. The last few nights have been cool and it's exactly as you say, Egon. Very relaxing to just mill around and weed or pull suckers off the tomatoes. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Well Jim I gave up on mine. The deer or calfs got in and walked down the rows picking out the corn. Nothing left but the hole. The last 2 years nothing touched them. There is one watermelon plant that survived. And here is another tip I discovered. Deer, cows, horses...do NOT like potato plants. Those are untouched and doing well. Next year a half acre of potatos. Not to pricey at $.50 a pound either.

Once again, $50 worth of seed in hand and mums on order and nothing but mud in the field, blasted may storms.

Better off than our Northeast members though.

Scotty, I bought a Honda mini tiller last year, it's a 4-stroke and one mean little sucker. Very quite and the tines are very fast. I have a 6 hp Troy Bilt and I believe that this little Honda would eat it alive, I think I paid $350 at Home Depot. It holds 2 ounces of oil in the crankcase. A great tiller for getting right up next to the plants. I've had an IDC brand 2-stroke in the past and it did OK for about 10 years, the primer bulb finally rotted off and I went and bought the Honda. Big garden going there Jim!! Looks good.
