Good morning all.

We are no longer sheepless. The first two trailer loads are here, with the youngest lambs being born only a couple of days ago. They spent the night tucked up in one bay of the hay barn with their mothers. 16 slightly bigger lambs were let out into the field by the shed and were soaking up the sun all day yesterday.

I have a little more fencing to do by the new barn today, then I can get a few more lambs under cover if the weather turns bad.

Txdon : Take it steady on your fishing trip. Rope around back legs with tractor staying on firm ground may be best approach.

We need pictures or it's only an internet rumor.

18 headed to 33. Should be a good day.

Will sharpen some chains today to be ready for some chainsaw work once the snow clears. Also have some rocks piled on the edge of a field to pick up with the FEL and move to their new home. If the ground stays frozen, will go after them.

Eric, glad you're not Sheepless in Shropshire anymore.

good morning all. Billie, you remind me to get out early before the ground totally turns to mud.
Decided I'm going to dig/auger all my fruit tree holes this morning; takes a little longer to get out of the cab and make sure I"m lined up just right but I'll take my time. The 18inch auger is too big for the trees but leaves a nice ring around the tree for mulching. Digging in sandy soil is such a treat.

before I do anything else I'm headed for the stereo to get a different CD.
Now what should be good planting music... (Beethoven's Apple Plum Waltz???....)
I know, most unfair, I'm trivializing over what music to listen to in my nice warm cab and some of you are still out freezing your butts off.

Eric, I hope this is ok to ask, but do you eat lamb?
Oh, give me a leg of lamb with little bits of fresh garlic inserted under the skin,
and of course some mint jelly. Baahhhh-yum.
and none of that mutton that walked all the way from Australia....

speaking of which, cooking some bacon this morning, smells up the kitchen nicely.
Now if I don't let it burn while typing away here....;)

-12 right now...high today will be about 25.

I've got all the components for my diesel fueling station, so I think I'll work on that today. I don't think my wife has any tasks for me.

Roy, I'm envious; I think a lot of us would like what you are building. As long as you burn the diesel within two years, should be fine. Please post pics as you go along; very interested in how this turns out for you. Been staring at those Northern Tools fuel pumps for years....

I have to pick up a five gallon can of diesel over my head, stretch out my arms and carefully drop it down on the hood of my tractor(on a towel), and then pour it in the elevated fill. Dumb design; the new ones have a low tank thankfully. So a diesel pump sounds marvelous. Is yours going to be hand or electric pumped?

It's not going to be a "project"...just assembling purchased components (except for the 55 gallon drum....that came from work and was a freebie).

Like your Kubota, the filler on the 4520 is on the cowl and I have to stand on a ladder to position the 5 gallon can. Awkward and, sooner or later, I'll either spill it all or fall off the ladder. If this was an open station machine, wouldn't be a problem, but it would also defeat the purpose of buying a cabbed tractor.

The pump is a Fill-Rite 12volt DC unit I bought from Amazon. It screws right into the drum and has a 10' hose and nozzle. Trouble loading pages right now, so I can't get a link. I'd prefer a manual crank pump, but that would make refueling a two person task.

As far as the quantity...55 gallons is 3 refuels of the 4520...plus my Gator is a diesel. And, if absolutely necessary, I can use this for heating oil (in an emergency).

What I haven't figured out yet is how I'm going to refill the drum. Some guys take the empty drum to the local off-road diesel station. I'm not sure that's safe or legal. Some guys have fuel delivered, but the dealers I've contacted around here won't deliver such a small amount. Then, there's #2 heating oil....about the same as diesel but doesn't have all the additives.

I'll have more answers when I do a bit more investigation...

I hope this link works:

If it doesn't load, do a search for Fill-Rite SD1202

BTW, there has been at least one thread on TBN about building a fueling station...might want to do a search
