Good Morning. 1150, mostly cloudy, 83F with 59% humidity. Forecast high of 83F with no chance of rain today, and a low of 62F tonight.

We had all decided it would be easier to go out for Mother's Day rather than cook, so we had gotten reservations at a new seafood place in Marianna called Up the Creek for 1730 last night. BIL had to work until 1700, so he was just going to meet us at the restaurant when he got off work. But he had forgotten a fellow was coming to buy hens {he's getting out of the egg business, just going to raise brood stock}. So we pushed back the reservation to 1815, and hoped the chicken buying man was on time. We were a few minutes late when we got off, but not too bad. Since BIL had to come in to take care of the chicken sale, we all road on Mamma's van, the only thing that would hold all 5 of us. Everything was going great, right up until I ran over something in the road. I didn't see it, so no idea what it was. Sounded like we had been hit by a deer though. I stopped to look and couldn't see anything, so kept on going. A 1/4 mile on, the low tire light comes on. I pulled over the check it and sure enough, the tire was losing air fast. I say a driveway ahead where we could get to it better, so I eased on ahead.

The van is 14 or 15 years old, and the spare had never been taken off it before. We had to resort to the manual to get it off, but we figured it out, finally. The old fellow who lived there came down in his all terrain wheel chair to see what was going on. When we couldn't get the flat tire off, he brought us a sledge hammer. Then when the spare was flat, he brought us his air pump. It turned out Margie knew the folks from when she had spoke at Altha's 1st Baptist Church a few years back, so I can't say it was the kindness of strangers that got us on the road, but it was kindness on the old fellow's part. We got to Up the Creek just about an hour late, but the food was good, and I really liked the American flag they had on the wall. The stars are actual star fish. Sister is getting the tires looked at today.

Good afternoon all. 62F and rain this morning, Forecast is for 82F and a window of no rain (rain quit @ 11AM). 2.1 in rain in the gauge from last night and this morning, and no hail . Have been working on organizing expense report and working on some residual consulting projects and need to do some bike maintenance. Mowing tomorrow as more rain in forecast for Wed/Thurs. Got home Saturday and helped move some dirt by hand, really missed my FEL :( . Sunday was church clean up kitchen for wife's Mothers day gift, Mexican for lunch with stepdaughter and back on the bike. Nothing like a 15-30 mph head wind to remind you of all the excess weight you carry :ashamed: .

reminded me of going to speech class in 2nd grade. I had a lisp. Still do at times. So be it.
But when you are a normal kid in a town that was half gay, well having a lisp was not a desirable
feature. For sure I survived and did fine. But a few identity issues and remarkably I was not one out of the two men who have had some homosexual experience in their lives. I'm a very tolerant guy but that sure has never interested me. And now living in a state that is making itself look utterly foolish over the stupid transgender bathroom issue. Now how many of you were up at nights worried about transgenders attacking your small kids in public bathrooms? Someone was up all night dreaming that statute up. Sorry, no politics here but our Protestant background sure has left us with a eons of hangups.

I still think I'm allowed to take my shirt off when I mow my lawn...:D
and that's what I'm about to do.

Drew, you're right, no politics in this thread, maybe you should express your opinions on North Carolina in the proper forum so they can be discussed. I'm a native and have opinions myself.

One of my favorite dishes as a kid (and still) is sliced cucumbers in vinegar with some black pepper. Never thought of drinking it, however.
I like them that way
