Long day. Met with one of my new neighbors. He has a 57 Chevy Bel Air Hardtop hot rod. I think we are going to be good friends.
Got lawn cut. Then neighbor on other side came. They are going on a vacation for 3 weeks. We get to raid their garden while they are gone. If we pull at least one weed for every vegetable we pick.

Just stopped at southern kitchen in New Market VA for supper. An old place. Has an old lunch counter, but we are in the newer section, looks like from the 60s.View attachment 567661

Hard to believe that New Market folks could read that many newspapers. I'm guessing a lot of those boxes have those travel coupon books in them instead.

Kind of funny, every morning I sit with my coffee and catch up on TBN, with this thread included, and think about the other dozen or so people doing the same thing.

We might as well be in the local diner sitting around the locals round table. :)

Good to see you all staying in touch the way you do. If you have ever watched the movies or read the books on Dick Proenneke, the daily weather reports here remind me of the way he opened every days journal.

Ok, enough thinking "out loud".

I'm late getting to the internet today...puppy sitting is a full time job, plus had some errands to run after a workout at the gym.

LS, Happy Anniversary to you and Mrs. LS. Hope your day was special.

Buppies, I like the new avatar pic of the house, and your good friend...a llama?

Hawkeye, hope you air is getting better. My son just went to Montana and they have closed part of Glacier NP due to fires/smoke.

Ed and Kyle, yesterday was a day to remember and a source of story telling for a while.

Rip, I'm with Buppies and will gladly give you a hand sometime. Nice looking run in.

Don, I wasn't sure how you'd be able to pick which activities from so many...but now that I've seen your woodworking shop, may be easy to pick one.

Ron, good neighbors you have.

Thanks, just some stuff related to my late wife that keeps it in front of me, nearly all done now. We are coming your way down 81 on October 21 on our way to a Tennessee tour. Ellen has never been there, so we are going to hit the tourist traps the ladies seem to love, Pigeon Forge, do some moonshine tasting, go over to Lynchburg and do some whiskey tasting, then on to Memphis, back up to Nashville, then Home again.

My point is if you’ll be home on the 21, or 27-28, we might be able to pay you a visit before we are on our way, if you’re agreeable of course.

I was thinking that Lynchburg was in a dry county. Has that changed lately? Ed
