Good work gloves

For a thicker, insulated glove I like Wells Lamont. Lately though, I've gotten into wearing the non-insulated gloves that conform more to your hands, like Mechanix Wear gloves. The thinner ones give you more movement and allow you to pick up smaller things with ease with your fingers, as well as allowing your hands to breathe better in the summer months. I go through a pair of the non-insulated gloves in about year, I tend to be pretty hard on them. I had a pair of the Dickies gloves and put a hole in them in about a month, they were a POS. Last year I bought some of the Mechanix Wear "Grip" gloves, that have a rubber treading on the fingers for grabbing things while there's grease or oil on the fingers of the gloves. Since then I have replaced the Grip's with the "M-Pact" gloves, which are a little more expensive, but they have nice padding on the palm and fingers, thicker outer protection and wear strips on the fingers, and thin rubber strips running down the length of the outside of the glove along the knuckles and fingers to protect them from bumps against hard objects and such. I think they were about $25 at Wal-Mart.

If you don't mind the JD branded stuff, TSC has John Deere deer skin gloves with the spandex backs for $12.99. Either way, I think deer skin is the way to go.

Edit: They are $16.99 online, but my local store currently has them for $12.99.

For the money, tough to beat the leather gloves from Costco. About $20.00 for three pair. And three pair will last me about a year.

I use the cheap leather and cuff gloves. They're good enough for me for most work.

Slightly off-topic, what I have found is how nice chainsaw gloves are for, well, chainsawing. I had always worn gloves when chainsawing, but after buying a pair made for the purpose, I was actually surprised.
They have some sort of a double-leather palm, which really seems to reduce the vibrations, making sawing for any length of time much more comfortable.
I got mine from Bailey's but I've seen what I assume is a similar set in a Husqvarna brand.
About $20, if I recall.
I try to use them only for chainsawing.

:DIf I had a $50 pr of gloves, I'd never use them for fear of messing them up! Actually, it depends on what you are doing, summer ... winter... wet.... grease... barbed wire... driving the tractor, truck or washing the truck in the winter.:( Buying the cotton dot gloves by the dozen is what I do.... as well as the leather/cotton ones for rough stuff. See Gemplers or Northern mail order for a wide selection...but not the cheapest.

I wear gloves almost all the time. Some good one's I've found are these from Duluth Trading:
Men's Work Gloves - Mens DTPro Work Gloves - Duluth Trading Company

They are frequently on special for various amounts less then the $19.50 list price.

Only thing is sometimes I like a leather glove. These are pretty good:
M&F Mens Tan Cowhide Palm Pad Gloves | Cavender's Boot City

The Duluth gloves hold up well doing some pretty rough work. Handling rock, lumber, metal is OK. They are synthetic so handling heated metal stuff is out with them. Otherwise they are fine and fit good.

I'm also a believer in the Mechanix brand glove. I have put several metal roofs on with them and no cuts yet. Really tough and very nice fit.

I also like teh Carhartt branded leather gloves. They fit nice and they are not to bulky, can pick things up with them. I hate having to take my gloves on and off all the time. I believe they have a drivers glove which is a medium weight type leather glove that cost me like $16 and last me about a year or so depending on what im doing.
