Good work gloves

   / Good work gloves #21
I hate it when my favourite gloves develop a hole or blow a seam. What's worse when I "find" a misplaced glove with my mower or send one through the chipper snagged on a branch. All these things happen often enough that I don't buy expensive gloves anymore.

Fixing the hole or blown seam is easy....

That is why they make Duct tape.:laughing::D:D:thumbsup:

I had to fix one set of work gloves this weekend with tape because of a blown seam. If handling rock, Duct tape on the glove fingers helps to protect the glove. The tape can pull of sometimes but usually you can just shove it back on the finger. :D Otherwise just use more Duct tape.:laughing:

Somehow I don't think Duct tape is going to fix a glove that has been processed via a mower or chipper. :D

I use the cheaper leather gloves for general purpose work. Though "cheap" is relative. I have a couple of pairs of the Mechanix gloves, one for working on the truck and tractor while the other I use when running the DR Brush cutter and sometimes the chainsaw.

Those gloves are expensive but worth it especially when using the DR. That DR is hard on the hands. Not just the palm of the hands but the knuckles as well. Thankfully these gloves seem to last a good long while.

I just got done tearing down an old barn and tried using the work gloves with the spandex backs.

I was so impressed with how they lasted and how they felt on the hand that I ordered another half dozen pair of the Instinct Threshers.

And surprisingly .... the manufacturers site is the cheapest at $10. per pair and free shipping.

Thanks for the link SARG. I ordered gloves for me, my wife and my son. Received them in a couple days and free shipping! We all tested the gloves and they seem to be tougher than the other brands we have used. I ordered 6 more pair last week.

Yer welcome. Your post just reminder me to order some more ...... not that they wear out ......... I've just got them stuck all over the place.

For the money, tough to beat the leather gloves from Costco. About $20.00 for three pair. And three pair will last me about a year.

Agree. These are the best deal going. The leather is pretty flexible (though one pair is stiff) and they have held up well over three or four years. I now have about six pairs lying around in different places. Can't beat the value.

Same here, only cheap gloves for me.

Rupert, that little menace, is particular about stealing gloves. He somehow made the connection glove = fun. He likes to be chased and cursed while staying in safe distance holding the glove. The only way to get it back - if I indeed realize the glove is gone before he shreds it is to exchange it for a treat.

I usually buy Large work gloves, but sometimes need XL for the finger length. I ordered XL from there and they fit perfect. The material does flex and stretch too.
I ordered some for my wife and son also, and I would say the glove size/fit is slightly on the small side, but not much. Check out their closeouts too - great prices if you can use those styles.

Instinct finally got around to replying to me, and provide the attached chart. Hope maybe it helps some of you other guys out. Turns out my delicate little baby had is a medium, which is kind of what i expected, since that is what i wear in mechanix wear gloves.

hopefully these will last longer.

I wouldn't trust that chart. According to that I would barely need a large. I bought the XL and they fit fine. Those charts only account for hand width and not length.
