Grease shortage

The JD parts guy probably forgot to order more when they ran out. Sounds alot better to say "supply train issues" than I'm a dummy and messed up. At least that's been my experience with parts people. Lol.
Who said anything about a “train” ? 😉

Yeah, umm no.
I called other JD dealers.
All out, so nope. LOL

The Deere polyurea is such a great grease that this supply issue may well cause other players in the grease business to offer a competitive product and likely at a better price.

Grease may be a little tight at the moment but let this play out over time. I've seen similar scenarios many times over the years.

Hear that everyday and im sure half the time it's ordering screw up... other times it's just on allocation and not much can be done except try alternates.

Drugs are crazy now...order fentanyl and only 10% ships with the rest in back order allocation.

Of course there is always some available through alternate off contract pricing that may be many times the contract price.

I've found ordering ahead for critical items a godsend...

So much for just in time theory and lowering inventory costs which was taking over industry not all that long ago!

Kind of like my dealership friend waiting for ordered vehicles to arrive sitting in a storage yard waiting for a chip or board to be able to deliver a 99.999% finished vehicle...

Always liked the old military expression..... Two is one, one is none...... but these days, it seems more like.....

Twenty is one, Ten is none......

Wish I was totally joking.....

My wife was visiting Houston area a couple of weeks ago. Had her go by one of the JD dealers in the metro area and she picked me up two cases of the polyurea grease. NP, they had plenty.

I’ve not noticed any grease shortages here. I bought a case today and I could buy a pallet of it if I wanted to.

John Deere Corn Head Grease is NLGI grade 0. Most farm equipment with ball & roller bearings, pivot pins in bushings, require Grade 2, and much thicker grease. I use JD Corn Head Grease in gearboxes subject to leaking, same reason JD selected it for use in the gearboxes on their corn heads when they couldn't get seals to hold 80W-90 gear lube.

How do you get the JD Corn Head Grease into the gear box, Will a regular grease gun work as they do come in cartridge's Or do you use a suction device ? Thanks

I run into supply chain issues daily.

Parts, maintenance items, equipment, medical supplies, drugs.

Just in Time management theory does nothing to help reliable operation or minimize cost when items restricted or in short supply…

No real rhyme or reason on some items other than the supply chain is long…

I forgot about Corn Head grease this but is great advice. I can use in my older parade tractors that all have leaky gearboxes. Great idea.

Deere polyurea grease shortage must be over. Dealer told me this morning he had 96 cases of it in stock.
