1964 Ford 4000, 4 cylinder. I pulled the pump but can’t find much about it. Found information about the control valve I posted but nothing helpful on the pump. IMG_1790.jpgIMG_1788.jpg

According to tractor data, it is open center 5.4 GPM.

I will do some more research to determine system pressure. In the meantime, is the tractor running and have you tested the loader and 3pt hitch?

Unfortunately the tractor isn’t running at this time. I picked it up a while back from my grandfathers ranch. It was sitting for around 7 years. I’ve gone through 95% of the tractor and am currently turning to the hydraulics. We have another tractor on the farm, just a small 2800 Kubota. So having this tractor with a grapple front end and possible aux hydraulics will help out a lot. Should have the old girl running within a month or so lord willing.

You might want to get it running, test the valve and loader before deciding which way to go. A diverter valve off of the curl Circuit will be cheaper than replacing the valve.

You will need to replace all the hoses and fittings.

Please note as well, hydraulic fluid is toxic and can kill you if it is injected into your skin. Never try to find a leak or cover a leak with you hands.

I may be mistaken but are you talking about the internal pump that controls the 3 pt hitch? The pump I’m talking about is mounted in the very front of tractor that had a spline shaft that runs directly off the fly wheel and pumps hydraulic oil to the cylinders that are on the loader.

From what I can tell it would be the front pump that is 5.5GPM.

Do you have a picture of the entire pump?

I can get a whole picture of the pump in the morning. It seems you can’t find parts for the old Cessna pumps anymore. Since it was pap’s old tractor it’s a free money pit for me. I won’t ever get rid of it. How big of a pump do you think the 50 horse can take? Around a 25 gpm pump? Then I could get a three spool block with an aux port for all my needs right? Just throwing ideas around. The tractor in whole will be completely restored along with all hydraulics. Want my kids to have ole blue when ever it’s time and well, why half *** things when you can just blow the socks off of it.

Okay, I am with you now. The loader pump drives off the crankshaft pulley. I see several different ones ranging from 5GPM to 14GPM.

Is there a separate fluid tank?
