I hope the Dealer and John Deere correct the problem and a happy return to using the rotary cutter is in the near future.

UPDATE:
Called the dealer at lunchtime today. I spoke with both the service manager and my salesman. Unfortunately, the solenoid repair didn't fix the PTO cutting out so they still investigating - he listed several things they were looking at. He already had the tires set out, but I didn't ask about hours because I didn't think it would help my case. The cutter is fixed and is "good as new".

Also talked to the saleman. I didn't ask specifics, but asked him where we were on the cutter/warranty. He said he was still going to work on it, but was waiting to meet with the service manager after everything was fixed. I told him thanks for working on it, that I had been thinking it over since Tuesday, that I would do what's fair, but I didn't like how things were left $ wise when I left on Tuesday. He said he understood and would work on it for me. We left it at that.

Looks like no seat time this weekend.

From what he said earlier, they were going to replace the driveline from the tractor PTO connection to the first gearbox as well as the middle support bracket:
The long shaft was bent AND twisted PLUS the upright housing between the short and long PTO's was twisted.

If the dealer service manager chooses not to repair cutter under warranty then I'd call JD's home office. I can tell you from experience that yrs ago JD's home office didn't like getting complaints from customers.

While you're at it, verify the official JD time estimates for dealer service departments to widen the tires (all 4?)

Hopefully this is all getting sorted out. It has been a few days. I'd hate to think what would happen if the PTO "cut out" during Haying Season.

I emailed the sales guy at the local dealer to ask what it would run to have the wheels widened on "a friend's 5083E" we shall see what they come back with for hours and $$$

It takes me and 1 other guy about 1.5 hours to take a 5093e from factory settings to the width we run them. That also includes taking the 3pt arms off. My experiences with Deere and drivelines is, bought 4 new cx15s this year, one mower literally blew the cv joint apart after 2 hours of running. Took it to local dealer, not where I bought them, and next day had my new shaft. They never questioned where it happened or how. I would hold the dealers feet to the fire and make them warranty it.
