Help with trailer decision

Wow! thanks for all the help. the tow vehicle will not be a problem, I have a 3/4 Chevy Duramax diesel, it will handle the load alright. I don't plan on ever having a BH, but would plan on a box blade, tiller, and shredder, not that I would ever haul them all at once though. Looks like I will have to move up in trailer. I was hoping to buy the trailer now and then the tractor in 6 months or so. this will be a 100% cash only deal, so looks like I have to save a little bit longer. Thanks for all your advice.

I recommend to a trailer that gets you just under the tow capacity of your truck. I have an F250 diesel and I am at 16k on a standard hitch/ball. Get a trailer that has a GVWR of say 14-15k. GVWR includes weight of trailer as previously mentioned, and in this class they will be a few thousand lbs themselves. So even with my F250 I am still around 10-12k of actual weight put on the trailer and tow. It really does add up quickly.

If you are ever going to be hauling more implements than the ones on tractor I do recommend getting more length. That also adds up quickly.

Some people can trade trailers and tractors, some of us tend to put a lot of thought into it, buy and never sell.

For my first tractor (B7610) back in spring of 2009 I searched high and low for something in my price range and feel I lucked out finding a 2007 package

for about 11K. The trailer was far more than I needed for the B7610 at the time. But it worked out with other things

For the trailer go as big as you can with your present truck within the parameters of wallet, skill and parking.

Fold up ramps that are secured in upright position, cause a lot of wind drag. Steel is too heavy for my liking, and 2 tonne capacity aluminium ramps set you back 800 bucks, but here in Holland thugs steal anything aluminium or copper for the scrap price, they even steal live railroad wires, or lightning rods off buildings.

So I had my neighbour saw two 2.5x12 inch planks from knot free Douglas sparrow for 30 bucks. I once broke one by wheelieing my 3500 pound tractor on it, holding a stump it could barely lift, under the backhoe arm. Well that set me back 30 euro, the price of being stupid was more of a nuisance than a financial loss.
