3-Point Hitch How do I find balls for my lower 3 point quick attach arms DK 5010?

Now that's an interesting take on this. I paid EXTRA to get these arms! I've learned from this site that a best practice is to leave the balls pinned onto the various implements. That would certainly prevent them from falling out :)

I recall balls for quick hitches for a Deere CAT II quick hitch --I have some of these balls in the barn--and these are to allow the quick hitch to function by just backing into the implement. These may be different from generic lift balls that go into the arms. I recall they had a small "boss" on each sides of the ball. I will locate this morning and post some pics. I think I also have some lift arm link balls so I'll photo those as well. Let's see if my memory serves me correctly.

If you posted a pic of your lift arms I think it would be helpful.

The balls were used on some British tractors with names like Nuffield and Leyland.

I miss 'Nuffy', we had a 10/66, with a loader and duals on the back. Useful old girl she was. Go like the proverbial too, I think 27mph flat out? You could get the hand throttle past the stopper and then hold on!!! Great light tractor for spraying on cultivated ground, seeding, etc. Wish Dad never sold it.

Sorry for a slight hijacking of the original post but I am getting all excited talking about Nuffy's.

My Nuffield was a 465 and it served me well. In the winter in Canad where we live it can get to -40F and my Nuffy could not start.
I made an engine heating system from a 4500 watt hot water tank element and a hydronic circulation pump connected into the cooling system.

I had a wire running from my home to the tractor shed to turn on this engine heating system. In 20 minutes the cooling system was up to 200F and the Nuffy thought it was summer and fired right up.

I used it for blowing snow and jammed a John Deere cab on it to keep me warm.

Only thing that ever concerned me during road trips to our cottage with it was braking. You never knew which way it was going to swerve in spite of all new plates and discs.

I am now 70 with a damaged spinal cord and cannot do the heavy maintenance the Nuffy required and bought a new Kubota with cab, heat and AC.

Here are the lift balls for a quick hitch I mentioned above. These go on the implement and the tractor backs up with a quick hitch on it and scoops on to these things. This is likely just an early version of the current ones that are a straight shank with a large boss on one end and is pinned onto the implement. I don't know as these things have evaded me in life. So at best I can offer these pics and let others figure it out.

Post a link arm pic and it will be solved. Anyway, here's my pics.

Bingo; problem solved. Looks like regular lift arm balls will fit but the kind with the boss on the end might work better. Basic lift balls are from mail order and mentioned earlier in the thread. TSC, Rural King; everyone has them here so any farm store there has to have them. Common ag item.

Std balls do not work to the best of my knowledge, wrong size. The balls with the small side extensions are top link balls and the other balls are draft link balls. The large flanged balls are for pin type connections and the std balls are for clevis type connections. There are no cat 1 top link balls that I know of, I have to machine the cat 2 balls to work for cat 1 applications.

These are what I have: Ball Replacement Cat II | Lawn Garden and AG Parts

Ask your dealer if he buys from A&I, if so have him order part number A-RB09. I believe they are sold as singles.

I'll be sure to let the dealer know for future reference but I'm going to order these RIGHT NOW. I think you and I have the exact same machine. DK 5010 with the quick attach arms. You're saying these fit in your arms and are what you use? Please confirm and I'm making an order now. Problem solved. Thank you!

I'm 99% sure those are the ones I purchased when I got my tractor. I just went and measured the best I can with a tape measure and the dimensions match (as close as I can get without calipers). I have a DK5510 but the arms are the same. Just note that those balls have a 1.125 ID so you'll need to use a bushing if you have Cat 1 implements.
