How do you chain down your 50 HP tractor for transport?

Don't forget to throw a chain over the FEL or bush hog, too. Your implements need to be tied down as well. With them you can get away with a strap as long as the WLL of the strap is clearly visible on it.
You can also use cargo securement straps on the equipment provided the WLL is clearly visible on them and you don't exceed their limits.

I use ratchet straps that have chain ends on them for aux. equipment securement.

Use them to secure our John Deere Zero Turn on trailer as well.

I have seen those and they look appealing, but how does the strap hold up? Sometimes my strap goes across equipment and while it's not a sharp edge ,cwill damage the strap. Then I'm out the $$.

I have some old straps with high quality ratchet handles but bad webbing. How do I get new webbing installed on these? Seems like you would need a heck of a sewing machine. Who fixes these?

You don't 'fix' them, you replace them and use the old webbing for protection from sharp edges.

I agree. No fixing the straps. Get some good straps, heavy enough for your intended use. As noted above, my go to straps are 2” with chain ends. The chains / hooks prevent abrasion of straps where you tie down.

I buy some canvas strap protectors that go over straps and slide to any area where your strap crosses a sharp edge. Guess you could use sections of inner tube but these protectors work well and not expensive.

Wow, I did not know about strap protectors and will get some. Great idea.

It's not that I want to fix straps but I have some older ratchet handles that are super heavy duty and in perfect condition, far better than anything today. I just figured I could re-web and have a much better product? Yes? No?

So I got some goodies in today and spoiler alert, I may have gone a bit too large on the D Rings lol

Those are the unbreakable shackles also, I was concerned they were gonna be too large but they are not, they will work great.

Idk about the D rings, I will either send those back or use them as a tow point or something. Sending stuff back is such a hassle lol.

If you keep them you will find a use for them.

For replacement ratchet webbing, buy a tow strap and cut in half, or cut one hook off.

I still might try and use one on the front of the tractor, idk about the other. I like the idea of 2 D-Rings on the front vs two, but the ones I have are rated for like 45k lol, only prob would be is if what they are welded to fails.

I thought about using the other on the front of my truck as a anchor point since it’s 2wd but even then the bumper would be in way of the frame. So idk.

But it has to be stitched together on one end. Who stitches it together and who among us has done it? Plus, if the stitching cost is prohibitive, then I would be better off buying a new one even if the quality was a notch below what I would have with the replacement strap.

Nope. Remember that the long strap has hook on one end and other end just gets threaded thru the ratchet drum.

D-rings make excellent paper weights but, not much else IMHO.
