How many would buy turfs again??

Chuck-- Ditto many above posts-- no problem late last winter blowing with turfs on a sloped driveway. Haven't had it in the woods yet, however. Did get chains (front & rear), but haven't used them yet.

I'm with ductape - I'd love to have 2 sets, r4s and turfs. Though I'd have to figure out an easier tire changing method.

Do people find that turfs with chains are like an r4 that you can take on and off? Meaning that the chains give just as good a grip? I could see that being a good compromise for most non-ag uses.

Contrary to what I'd heard, keeping the tractor in 4wd actually seems to do less damage. Forgetting to raise the bucket before driving off, on the other hand....

My B7200 had turfs, I replaced it with a B8200 with ags. Won't go back to turfs. I bought my tractor to be a tractor, and bought a lawnmower to mow the lawn.

Second tractor and I still bought the turfs, but this time I also bought a set of R4's. Agree with most of the posts.

For snowplowing, mowing and most general yard work turf's are excellent. When getting a little aggressive in moving material the R4's shine in both traction and side wall strength.

As for the lawn, The turfs are definitely a must at my place where I have a heavy sand content. My friend has similar tractor and has a much tuffer ground under his lawn and has no problem leaving the R4's on. We both feel that the turfs (w/o chains) are better on our 4WD tractors for snow removal with a plow as the tires generally don't have to deal with real deep snow. The plow gets there first, if everything is going well. In winter the more edges in the tire will give the best traction on ice and light snow.

The turfs on my JD 4010 (higher clearance version of the 2210, more or less) are fine and are what I'll replace with if I need any tires before buying another tractor.

I tried turfs and ags on my Gravely (ran them dually, two on each side). Turfs gave the most traction in most cases. Ags will mainly only help out in the mud.

My B6200 was bought used, came with turfs. Only got stuck once, definitely my fault, should have never tried to drive the tractor there. B7610 bought new, wanted/got turfs, got it stuck once, definitely my fault. If I buy another tractor it will have turfs, not sure where I will have to get that one stuck but most likely that will also be my fault:eek: .
I'm pretty sure, positive really, that I would have been stuck both times even with ag tires just much worse and harder to get out.

You wanted input on the CUT sized machines but since I've got both Bar's & Turfs for my BX23 I'll add my .02 anyways :D
My BX23 came w/bars and after two yrs I came across a great deal on a set of low hr turfs mounted on BX wheels. Done deal as they say :D
I like almost everything better on the turfs. They don't mark or compact my lawn. The ride is softer on my rear and I've yet to get it stuck. Granted I've had to use the diff lock and 4wd alot more in the mud but I figure thats what they're for :D
I'm keeping the ag's for the times when I'll be doing TLB work in a construction site type setting, until then I'm running the turfs.
If I ever upgrade to larger B or GL series, it'll be equipped w/turfs.

I am a no compromise type, so I will only buy turf tires for my lawn tractors and R1's for my field tractors. I once bought a backhoe with R4's and they were good for that industrial use but in my opinion they are bad for on the lawn or in the field which makes them a bad choice anywhere I use a tractor. Anyone who uses R4's on a lawn or in a field will suffer some dissapointment as that is the cost of compromise.
