How many would buy turfs again??

Well everyone, you can start laughing now. In the 11th hour, I talked to the dealer, and had them install turfs!

I have turfs on our 1510 and they are a blessing and a curse. Since the tractor is the loader and backhoe for the cemetery it is nice to drive down the rows and not tear it up, but....

My cemetery is nothing but hills, all it takes is a little moisture or god forbid some snow and I may as well be on skiis. I can chain the front wheels (4wd) but I need spacers for the rear wheels for the chains to fit and have never gotten around to getting them. If I had to do it over again I would prolly get more agressive tread because in bad weather it is easier to fill a couple ruts and seed it than to set up a half dozen headstones that got knocked over when I go sliding sideways down hill.

Before I bought my tractor I hired someone to brush hog my swampy future pastures. It was a CUT JD with turfs. He had zero problems and it really did not 'sink in' until I tried the same with my new tractor.

I ordered R4's on my 3430 thinking the compromise wet traction / lawn damage thing.... I never considered the concept of flotation....

That same area I still can't get near with my R4's. I have zero flotation with the R4's and that JD just ran right over the wet stuff....

Yep, turf tires defenitely float, which is a good thing....unless you are on a hill. There is no 1 good answer, it all depends on your terrain and what you do on it.

When i bought my BX 1830 I ordered two sets of tire-wheel combinations
Set 1 r-1 with wheels
Set2 Turfs-with wheels
It takes me less than thirty min to change out and that is outside
The r-1's were about $330 but this was a package deal and cash also so that may alter what goes on now
In any case I can change out to suit whatever job that I plan on doing
Having two sets of tires and wheels works for me
It also works for my 4X4 truck
