Hi. I've got a B2150 and need to remove my Front and Rear wheels to take them to have new tires mounted.

Where is it safe to put a jack under the rear to jack it up to remove the wheels ?

I have a FEL and firgure I can use it to lift the front while I remove the front wheel and then lower the front onto some blocks with lumber.

But the rear concerns me a lot more as it is larger and heavier and I don't know where the proper lifting/jacking point is on the axle.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks, Tim

Only thing that bothers me here is that an "old" SOLID tractor with a lot of cast iron in the rear axle was used as a demo. What are the concerns with those tractors with a lot of cast aluminum housings for the rear axle? And none to thick aluminum I would bet at that. I am always a little nervous about where to best support when jacking or blocking.

One other suggestion and advice: Please work safely and do you best not to get in a rush and think things over before you do them.

Agreed. Words to live by.

Thanks for the caution... I'll take my time and think each step through.

I would only jack from steel frame members.

MAKE sure you put jack stands under. DO NOT depend only on the jack.

Parking brake on,if gear tranny use low, block rear tires, lift tires just enough of the ground to slide tire off...great advice given by others.

Good advice indeed.

It's a scary proposition to jack something up this heavy... even changing a car tire makes me feel uneasy.

As I jack it up, I'll be sure to place Blocks/Lumber under the axle and lift only as high as necessary to get the wheel off.

I put floor jack under part where the drawbar is attached and jack up whole rear end. Tractor will be free to rotate around attachment point of front axle once both rear wheels are off the ground, so don't depend on this to hold it up safely. Jacking from the center makes it easy to block both sides and lower it down on the blocks. If you jack out by each wheel, there's no room to put the blocks in. I leave the jack snugged up under the drawbar with a little force on it, just in case one of the blocks fails you've got another line of defense to help hold it up long enough for you to run.

Buy a few concrete blocks. They are a cheap source of back up support and wheel locking. Pieces of 2x4 wood is good for avoiding damage to the paintwork.

Thanks BeezFun.

It would certainly be easier to only have to jack it up once in the middle instead of each side.

Please don't use concrete blocks for any vehicle support. People have died that way. They just aren't designed to support those type of concentrated loads and can crumble without warning.

Agreed,,,seen them crumble like a dynamited building

I love having a loader and back hoe. Rotate bucket to raise front wheels... add jackstands. Raise rear wheels with backhoe stabs. That is so long as the engine is running...

Have you given any thought to just getting a trailer and taken it down and letting the tire store doing the tire change! They should have all the lifts, tools and experience for doing this. I'm assuming that you are only doing the tire change.

Here is what I use, fits right under axle, use per side. Philip.

When taking off the rear wheels make sure you have checked if they are loaded or not. If they are you need help or you may end up with the tire on top of you. Often they are loaded with a loader on the tractor.

I did not see it mentioned so I will toss it out there...do the work on a hard surface, in a garage. With the winter we have been having, here anyway, the ground is soft and any jack/jackstand could sink, throwing things off balance and maybe falling...

I've considered it, and stil looking for a friend who has a big enough trailer.

I agree that this would be the easiest and safest way.

But I'm tryin' to save as much as I can in these economic times.

Thanks, Tim
