How to water trees with barrels in loader

Put in about 300 trees last year. I only would water between extended periods of no rain and set up an IBC rain catch so I wasn't paying for water. I found a 275 gallon ibc at 3/4 full was all I wanted to drive around with. I drilled a couple of relief holes so it didn't get too full. I also made a boom out of PVC with some holes drilled. It was fast and crude and worked.

Great idea. What about an electric valve on the front of that so you could switch on and off. Maybe a hose back to you that can be switched on and off? Bigger drink for the trees and nothing in the bare ground of the trees?

I thought about that, and did end up putting a pVC pipe off the IBC valve for more consistent watering. That isn't in the video. You could do something better to control the water, but I was just doing it as KISS as I could. The pressure is only what you have from gravity. They higher you lift it the better, so I hose or valve coming back to the operator would be tough. An electronic control would be good, but then I'd probably just put a motor on it and actually pump it.

That is a better way to do it. Watering from the tractor would cut the time needed by a lot.

When I burn my brush pile I use it to prevent the fire spreading - once I had a very hectic hour full of buckets and running
