Husqvarna quitting consumer grade mowers

I would have sworn Husqvarna retail store models were made by MTD. Some MTD parts were interchangeable and identical to Husqvarna. I had a commercial model 54" Husqvarna (that I hated) that I was able to buy MTD parts for (a lot cheaper) even the spindles. Spent over $1K in parts over 4 years keeping that $4K Husky working. I had a Craftsman rider for 15 years and only bought maintenance items for. It rusted away finally so turned into a tow motor for another 5 years. It was running when I sold it.

So Sears in continuing their self inflicted demise.

Tendency of many American businesses. Pinch every penny out of the operation to make short term gains in spite of long term failure. When will American businesses stop driving for results THIS MONTH and start looking out 5 years? I do not see it. Such a shame.

350 hours is all I have been able to get out of the lawn tractors in the 24 to 26HP range anyway. Four years and I have to junk them.. I hope they are not calling a 2654 a "premium tractor" because they don't last any longer than anything else. I have been through three of them in short order. Next one will be commercial for me.. Running an air cooled twin cylinder for four hours in 90F heat, it's not going to last long, liquid cooled is the only way for anything to last in the heat..

Givin this scenario I would go diesel instead.

A number of years back when Sears only went Husqvarna for some of the mid and larger tractors and had MTD for the lesser / bread and butter tractors - it definitely did punch the big H in gut. Parts distributors were dropped by the big H as they had to reorganize. It had a big effect. It makes me wonder to what degree it will affect Briggs US. Brigg's Murrays that I see are MTD products. With everyone else they own, you'd think they would compete with MTD rather than hand them the business. I haven't been in a Sears for a couple years, so what they have for tractors on the sales floor I do not know. Sears for years and years was the largest retailer of OPE so it was a big deal.

No doubt that would be the way to go if your bank account could support it.. I'll probably put a belly mower on the GC and be done with it..

HA! That's exactly what I am waiting to do but my Husvarna wont die.....once it does Im getting a belly mower for the GC-maybe a pull behind finish or flail mower. Tired of mowing for two hours every week,

I just looked, there are two of them near me that were never used, a 54 and a 60, the 60 is $1200 and the 54 is $1600, both come with the brackets, I need to go get the 60..

Interesting. I drove by my dealer recently and saw that they had stopped stocking Husq. and instead stocked Redmax riders. Makes sense now.

I believe RedMax is owned by Husky. I have a RedMax reciprocator but that is a commercial product.

Prior to RexMax's accquisition, it was a commercial only brand.
